Running Extraction Tally - PDenbigh - 12-19-2009

Report your snow extractions here!

My count so far: 11
Including:
1 Holsum bread truck stuck in an intersection, pulled him all the way to Walmart :-) (possibly my best one ever)
1 Chevy Avalanche. (I really enjoyed that one)
1 Geo Tracker
1 Ford Contour (same one twice!)
1 F450 Ford 4x4 Ambulance, right in front of our house!
1 Chevy 2500 snowplow, that was a challenge. Plow was buried in the snow and he was in quite a ditch.
1 Chevy Caprice
1 GMC Jimmy 4x4
1 Toyota Celeca
1 Jeep Cherokee

My snow gauge is 24" tall and I can't see it any more. Staunton is shut down and it's great. All of these extractions were on my way to/from friends houses, etc, and I didn't go "out of my way" to get to any. I would have never gotten where I was going otherwise! My requirements are: old, useful, or upset.

that pic is priceless.

Re: Running Extraction Tally - Apoc - 12-19-2009

One of the best times I had in the snow was me and 2 friends using my dad's GMC to pull people out back in '96. I kinda wished I lived somewhere that got more snow and I had a truck so I could do it more.

Re: Running Extraction Tally - BLINGMW - 12-19-2009

nice work Pete  We barely made it home, I and another guy spent about a half hour pushing cars around at one intersection after helping Jess up the street and then clearing the other people out. So... Jess' 325, a GM truck of some kind, Saturn, and a Mercury something.

Re: Running Extraction Tally - xvxax - 12-19-2009

Two, one car one mail truck. I let the mail truck strap his own car and he managed to get my strap wedged in his bumper.

Being in NoVA, there is no possible way for me to be nice enough to pull everyone. Some people are just dumb and need to know when to stay home. It's Saturday after all.

Re: Running Extraction Tally - Jake - 12-19-2009

I had to drive the Miata home from work last night and the snow had already started falling. I made it (slowly and booty shaking) home in 2nd gear but the final hill to my neighborhood was impossible in 3rd. My parents were following me home and they stopped and pushed. It took my dad and some other guy who stopped to help (while mom drove their car) to get me up the hill. Summer tires: not so great in the snow.

I stopped today on my way home from work (yes, retail sucks hard) in the Escape. Some guy in a Honda Passport had moved over to let a tailgating pickup pass him and got stuck in a drift. He had it in 4-Low but I'm pretty sure the 4WD system was busted (truck had 200k+) because the front wheels weren't spinning at all. It took me and 3 other guys pushing (after shoveling a ton of snow away from it) to get him out.

Loudoun Fire & Rescue showed up in a massive ambulance. The two guys that got out just stood around and didn't have any resources to help. Bleh.

If I had a tow strap (and a more beefy truck that wasn't a Mazda 626 w/lift kit) I would have pulled over for more people.

Pete does your F150 have snow tires or just off road tires? either way thats a pretty impressive tally.

I'm with Mike...you need to blow that bread truck picture up and put that on your garage wall  awesome

Sorry, but you've got nothing on Subarus!

Re: Running Extraction Tally - PDenbigh - 12-20-2009

@ Scotty - Tires are Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo's. My favorite tire - do great in dry and wet, ride well, and hold their own when the pavement ends.

@ WRX - that's awesome! Hell, next time this happens I'll just round up a bunch of pickup trucks and reopen I-81 our damn self!

Re: Running Extraction Tally - DroptopS13 - 12-21-2009

Just got done towing a F250 super duty(w 7.x liter turbo diesel) with a 3" lift and offroading tires down the icy street with our familys old 2000 montaro sport. The guy was so embrassed hahaha

Re: Running Extraction Tally - JohnC - 12-21-2009

My total so far is 3. My WRX, the neighbors truck, both of which got locked in by the city plow truck, and some idiot in a Focus who tried to drive up a street that hadn't been plowed. His wife apologized to me as I was digging them out. I considered going back out with the WRX in the afternoon (since it does have a trailer hitch), but then I remembered how much I like staying inside, warm, and full of beer.

Re: Running Extraction Tally - Ole - 12-21-2009

I'm calling BS on a few of these!

2000 Honda Accord - my sisters. She drove in from Alabama friday night (6 hour drive that took her 15). She finally made it and got stuck in our lower driveway with the back end sticking out into the road. Got woken up at 6am to go pull her up into the driveway further so the snow plows could get by.

2008 Nissan Altima - Girlfriends car. Got stuck at the top of her driveway. Laid down a sticky piece of outdoor carpet undereath it and managed to get enough traction to get it unstuck without having to use a chain.

2006 Mini Cooper S - Stuck in the neighbors yard as he spun out of control on the hill leading up past the side of our house and landed in their ditch. They tried unsuccessfully to pull it out with a 2wd tacoma (couldn't get traction) so I hooked it up to the Lincoln and it came right out.

95 BMW M3 - *Cough* JOEY'S *Cough*

Got stuck backing up so he could pull into parking spot, hooked it up to the Ralliart and got that sucker in position to pull back in.
