Colin L (DroptopS13) - DroptopS13 - 12-18-2009 So I know a few of you, I really haven't been able to attend as much as I would, of liked too this semester as my class load was a bit much, but next semester is looking good! My name is Colin Lernihan, I'm a sophomore, majoring in Finance and heres a bit of my history with cars.... I got started with a nice reliable 96 Acura Integra ls 5 speed, actually found a unmolested unmodded former company car, and I loved it. After a year or so I was looking for more power and lusting after a RWD car, thankfully my best friend at the time got me into the Nissan scene, one ride in his former s13 sr20 hatch and I was hooked. About a year later, I was driving my integra downtown and got sideswiped by a minivan going about 50mph hock: My faithful teg held up well but she was totalled, after a summer of no car I went off to JMU, finally the summer after my freshman year I picked up my new baby. A rare convertible s13 with a 98 sr20det type x blacktop swapped in. though I wish i could say I had the pleasure of swapping it myself (too costly for the upgrades this one had already) I picked it up from a 25 year old anal retentive guy from Va beach who rarely drove it and needed a more practical car for children. Absolutely love my car to death, and am looking forward to possibly autocrossing it this upcoming season Re: Colin L (DroptopS13) - V1GiLaNtE - 12-20-2009 About time you got on the forums! Sharp 240 man, you better bring it to school cause I want a ride! Re: Colin L (DroptopS13) - ScottyB - 12-20-2009 nice 'vert, don't see too many of those. Haha yeah man, I figured I've been lurking long enough. And of course when I get it up there you can have all the rides you want. ScottyB Wrote:nice 'vert, don't see too many of those. Thanks it really grew on me. And your right there were only 8000 produced many of which have been trashed out, wrecked and so on, so the figure is most likely in the 5 thousands now Re: Colin L (DroptopS13) - A350Zisa - 01-25-2010 Cars! To me this platform is meant solely for drifting. Why autox? Re: Colin L (DroptopS13) - D_Eclipse9916 - 01-25-2010 ? Y not autox? Lightweight, RWD platform? Sounds like a better platform than a lot of the cars out there. Re: Colin L (DroptopS13) - Jake - 01-25-2010 DJ gots it. And really, I'd AX anything just to learn to drive better. Who cares what platform and stuff. Re: Colin L (DroptopS13) - TorinoCobra070 - 01-25-2010 A350Zisa Wrote:Cars! For fun??? There is a class for anything out there, might as well go for it. Re: Colin L (DroptopS13) - DroptopS13 - 01-26-2010 A350Zisa Wrote:Cars!Haha I honestly hate when people say that, there are time attack 240sx's out there that run great numbers. I mean saying all a 240sx can do is drift is a crime, to a great chassis. They also are 50 50 weight, z32 multi link suspension, 2800 pds for my car. Actually my best friend had a 350z with alotttt of mods (rare nismo lightweight wheels, pop charger, nismo exhaust, short throw, stop techs) after his 240sx and said its handling and power were dissappointing in comparison. So I mean it will hang with cars a lot more than its price. Re: Colin L (DroptopS13) - D_Eclipse9916 - 01-26-2010 Theres a guy that runs autocross and road course work up here in the DC region with a 240sx that does fairly well. Dont let anyone by a naysayer, being different has its rewards and challenges. The GSX was my "different" car, and it honestly was brutally fast on track once I myself started getting okay at driving. I did end up selling it, but for different reasons than it being different. Mainly, I wanted something I could put into a wall without brekaing my heart (and wallet), and something much slower, so when I did hit a wall I hope I would survive. And I'm not too worried but with all the work the car has I'm going to be running in a class with other monsters running swaps so we'll see how she performs wish I could run a more stock class since tech. I'm running the engine that nissan should of given it. The Regular E36 m3 got a crappy motor instead of the motor that all the rest of the world got. Woulda appreciated ITBs and 321hp instead of 240. Re: Colin L (DroptopS13) - DroptopS13 - 01-27-2010 yeah, you guys did get dicked over too. US emissions sucks, everyone loves the smell of gas anyways so why restrict it. Haha Re: Colin L (DroptopS13) - DroptopS13 - 02-22-2010 Just ordered a new set of coilpacks, spark plugs and aluminum radiator.Pumped to hopefully get her back on the roads and hopefully Harrisonburg when the weather gets nice! |
