TV Shows - Goodspeed - 09-09-2009

So fall is here, that means new seasons/series coming on the tube...what are y'all watching? And don't even bring that "TV? I'm too cool to watch TV" crap in here.

Current favorites:

- Southland. LA cop/detective story, but way more than your typical po-po procedural. Short scenes, fast paced, yet uniquely riveting to watch. Highly recommended - you can catch some of last season's stuff on nbc.com. New season starts Oct. 23rd

- Sons of Anarchy. Bikers + guns = win. Weekly dose of gang violence? Check.

Old favorites that keep me coming back:

- House. Hugh Laurie FTW.

- South Park, Supernatural, The Office, etc.

Re: TV Shows - ScottyB - 09-09-2009

love southland. first late night series i ever watched from first show to last.

- man vs. wild, huge entertainment factor
- dirty jobs, mike rowe may very well be the coolest guy on earth

used to watch house, but the snarky doctor theme just wore me out.

Re: TV Shows - Maengelito - 09-09-2009

Top Chef, go ahead, judge me, but you know you secretly like it too.

Re: TV Shows - D_Eclipse9916 - 09-09-2009

South Park, whatever is on TV right before I go to bed, too bad Speed channel was junk/even worse now, so I barely even flip to that channel now so its either CNBC, Comedy Central or the History Channel (and yes I do love me some lame history channel).

Maengelito Wrote:Top Chef, go ahead, judge me, but you know you secretly like it too.

I watch it and I'm not afraid to admit it.

Also on my list is House, Big Bang Theory, The Office and a few others that I can't remember.

I just started watching Surviving Disaster on Spike and it's surprisingly not that cheesy.

Re: TV Shows - WRXtranceformed - 09-09-2009

Currently DVR'd:
Hell's Kitchen (by far my #1)
Chopped (Food Channel show where chefs compete for $10 grand by making dishes out of random ingredients that don't go well together)
Planet Earth even though I've seen them all
Gangland
The Colony
Star Trek: TNG
Star Trek: Enterprise
Whale Wars
The Ultimate Fighter

If you like Hell's Kitchen and have BBC America, record The F Word. It's Ramsay, but not all Fox-ized and yelling at everyone... unless you like that part.

Top Chef > Chopped, check it out if you haven't

The Colony is cool, but that has to be the best stocked abandoned warehouse I've ever seen. The show is more about "what can you build with all this random shit" than anything... which is cool.

I watched one episode of Whale Wars and the Japanese pulled 3 whales on board while the dudes were trying to prevent it. Do they ever really succeed 'cause it seemed like they were epic fail in the one I watched.

The only TV shows i've watched in the past year or so along with Top Gear. The yelling and calling everyone donkeys is pretty funny. Kitchen nightmares is on Hulu also.

Other than that... meh.

Where do you find the Top Gear stuff?

Re: TV Shows - JustinG - 09-09-2009

definitely, Tom Collichio (sp?) > Ted Allen

Re: TV Shows - Evan - 09-09-2009

TV is pretty much always a huge waste of time, but I do download and watch when things slow down:

Big Bang Theory
Caprica
Lost

BBT is definately the funniest / most well written show Ive seen in a very very long time. (since sienfeld?)

I also downloaded the first 3 seasons of Whitest Kids U' Know after thoroughly enjoying Miss March.

Re: TV Shows - NTIman - 09-09-2009

The Whitest Kids U Know is hilarious.

Re: TV Shows - Jewels - 09-09-2009

We watch:
Heroes
Chuck
Top Chef
Iron Chef America
Fringe
Castle

Those are just the ones I can think of. Though we don't have the TV on a whole lot really.

Re: TV Shows - Ryan T - 09-09-2009

Man vs. Food
Wrestling on mondays - don't hate.
Black Gold
Wrecked
Family Guy
Law and Order

Ahh yeah I forgot about Top Gear, I DVR all those episodes too. I'll def have to check out Top Chef.

Yeah I like the ingenuity of the colonist in The Colony. Those guys are super smart with the things they make.

This past season of Whale Wars is pretty much fail in terms of saving the whales. Last season they were able to land a bunch of stink bombs and stuff, but this year the Japanese bought military grade LRADS and were MUCH more aggressive in their tactics. They didn't have a chance really, they're going to have to figure out a new strategy because they pretty much just killed whales right in front of them.
