Need business computers...ideas? - Jeff - 05-14-2009 Well, we got our letter from Chrysler this morning saying they want us to continue to be a dealer. This is good news. So as we sit here and wait for the rest of this mess to clear out...and our first new Jeeps to arrive... its time to upgrade about 5 or 6 of the dealership's aging PCs. Most of the ones to get the axe are running Windows 2000 with less then a gig of ram. So, I have been tasked with finding the best deal on, lets say 6, desktop towers. We have all the monitors and such we need. Most of the PC's being replaced were made for us by a local place...never again. A few of them are Dells. I just need cheap basic towers with XP Pro or Vista Business on them...no BS. Minimum needs, 2g ram, smallish HDs, no fancy video cards, you get the picture. Where would MM buy something like this? - BLINGMW - 05-14-2009 more dells? :dunno: Or their refurb site? I doubt you'll get a somewhat quality computer for much cheaper. ~$300ea right? - .RJ - 05-14-2009 Dell, but pay for small business support.... - Kaan - 05-14-2009 .RJ Wrote:Dell, but pay for small business support.... +1.... when i did some server work for a company we were using OTS dell servers.... they actually held up through the ARMY testing. There are always deals on the dell site! - Mike - 05-14-2009 delllll - .RJ - 05-14-2009 In before evan... - Goodspeed - 05-14-2009 Congrats on the dealership news! I'll 2nd the Dells, but don't forget in your recommendations that Jeff will need a baller video card and a hi-def large monitor for "Schoolgirls Lost On Blackstreet 5" - CaptainHenreh - 05-14-2009 Helpful Busssss... - NTIman - 05-14-2009 Awesome, I'm glad they didn't drop the bomb on you all. Kern Motor Company (beside the dealer I work at, and owned by the same family) is kind of screwed, with Pontiac shutting down and now they're losing Jeep. I doubt if GMC will be enough to keep them going. That being said, I'd agree with everyone else and go with a Dell. - Steve85 - 05-15-2009 Congrats on the dealer news. It must have been rough over the last few months (moreso anyway) wondering what would happen. - Jeff - 05-19-2009 Thanks for the responses. Looks like we can do decent dells for $350...doubt there is anything better? - Evan - 05-19-2009 commodity PCs all suck about the same. I personally think Dell uses substandard components, but ultimately there is no real reason to stick to any brand at this price point. Just wait for the first HP/Compaq/Gateway/Dell sale and pick them up there. - Jeff - 05-19-2009 Steve85 Wrote:Congrats on the dealer news. But we are hoping for the best and working to help the company continue on and improve. |
