FS: Chairs, tables, Sega Dreamcast - Jake - 05-05-2009

I'm moving to a new place in the fall, and I need/want to clear out some furniture. Here's what I've got. All stuff must be gone by this Friday. I live at Madison Manor and have the Escape here, so I can deliver if your car is equally as impractical as the Miata.

Two chairs - $40 for the set. They're from Ikea and are in great shape. Probably three years old. Grey metal frames with darker gray fabric cushions.

End table thingy. Take it. Was given to me last year. The top comes off so you can store jank inside.

If you take it, I promise to remove the dust from the lid.

Coffee table - $15. Light wood, from Target two years ago. Has a convenient carry handle in the middle so it's as outdoorsy as you are. Or something.

Awesome shag rug not included.

I also have a Sega Dreamcast that I want gone, because I never play it. It was given to me when a friend moved, so it's free for you too. It's the black "sports edition" and has three controllers I think. Also has a few games - primarily sports like NFL/NBA 2k1 (old skool) and hopefully Crazy Taxi if I can find it.

Email me at thiewejm [at] jmu [dot] edu or PM here if you're interested.

Sure thing, I'm heading back to Ashburn for the summer in about... 14 hours, and I work at the Apple store at Fair Oaks mall. I'll bring the DC stuff home with me and we'll figure out a time to meet up then.

Aren't Dreamcasts steadily becoming collector's items? Might want to throw it in the closet for 30 years and see what happens. Or, ignore what I posted and Evan can get his dream on.

Evan can get his Dream on... I have a N64 that's sticking around. The Dreamcast does have the totally rad modem so he can dial in to something perhaps resembling Xbox Live, only at a much slower pace.

i love my dreamcast. i always forget to play it, though. has some really sick games.

i've got a new neo geo cabinet coming next week.

already have this (and selling it. anybody interested?)

[/brag about awesome gaming]

What games is your new cabinet coming with? I'd love to get a Neo Geo cabinet some day, but I think my next purchase will be KI or KI2 (my Mortal Kombat is for sale too Tongue)

- Mike - 05-08-2009

they don't come with games; they use cartridges. i have a collection of about 30. if you really need to know, i can list them... or make a project thread since these fuckers do tend to need work.

- WRXtranceformed - 05-08-2009

I was just curious Tongue

how about you invite your nerd friends over to play them?

- Apoc - 05-10-2009

Real men have cabinets that only play one game.

I feel so manly.

- Evan - 05-11-2009

NFW.

I helped a friend build a cabinet for an emulator. Turned out really well, you cant tell it isnt a real arcade cabinet. Plays any game you want, he has about 800 loaded, plus console emulators and games.

- Mike - 05-11-2009

emulating is not the same.

Tr00er words have never been spoken.

Besides, only sissies have games without balls. Tongue

Actually it is. Its exactly the same. Same exact code running.

we built his cabinet with the exact same control hardware and buttons as the 'real' cabinets. Minus a decade or so of fat guys smearing nacho cheese all over the buttons.

- Mike - 05-11-2009

No, clock speeds aren't always 100%, sound isn't always 100%, graphics are often glitchy. Sure, some games were dumped perfectly, but very far from all.

- Evan - 05-11-2009

Maybe youre talking about emulators circa 5+ years ago? I havent played a single glitchy game. MAME is very mature and even runs the newer stuff like blitz and all the capcom games flawlessly.

Dont get me wrong, I like the looks and the nostalgia of an authentic cabinet (and I will own a pinball machine someday) but for actually playing games I think a custom cabinet with an emulator is great.

oh and chris, it has the golden tee ball in the middle too Wink

- Mike - 05-12-2009

no, i'm talking current stuff. there is a reason emulators aren't permitted for record attempts... and yes, they can ensure you didn't cheat.

this isn't the thread for this. back to stuff for sale!
