Local classic/antique and muscle car shows coming up soon - fiveoh2go - 04-21-2009

For those that will be in Harrisonburg this summer, there are two pretty good car shows that are just around the corner:

May 29th - Harrisonburg First Church of the Nazarene is having their first show of the season. Always a good turn out with a variety of cars and trucks to peruse.

June 13th - The Bar-B-Q Ranch's first show of the year, they've been holding it for close to 20 years. This is probably one of the better shows around here. LOTS of old school muscle and hot rods at this one, the newest cars that show up to this event are usually mid 70's vintage. This show runs from 4-9.

also June 13th - Myers Ford in Elkton is holding thier annual car show from 10-2. Myers was the areas only SVT dealer back in the day, as they are a performance oriented dealership from way back. Lots of Mustangs and vintage Fords to take in.

I'll definitely be at the May show and will probably be at the June one as well...though I'll probably park a ways away as I doubt they'd warm up to my big ol' Supra  I went to the last one and it was awesome.

Is BBQ Ranch's show actually at the restaurant? Their parking lot is so small...

BBQ Ranch's show is on the hill, parking lot and grass all around the restaurant. There were a lot of nice cars the time I went, although the stares of death we received as we drove in (and I accidentally pealed out in the dirt up that bumpy ass hill as we tried to park) were a little unsettling.

I think you have to ignore those old school car show pricks, they are at every show

Yes it is, but the spaces to get are the ones under the car-hop/pavilion thingy. As long as the weather is nice, I'm taking the Cobra. You can bum a ride with me if you want.

Just out of curiosity, what did you guys roll up in?

Word, sounds like a plan. I definitely want to go, but don't want to make a "scene" when I show up

I think it was DJ in his Eclipse, Ryan in the RX7 and me in the SHO, although it was forever ago, I really don't remember.

and I'm pretty sure I was there in the Subie. Maybe I didn't drive but I do remember being there. :dunno:

I remember it being a good show. Some pretty clean classics.

Matt, are you still planning on going to the Friday show? Looks like chances of rain/thunder before 5-6pm, but I'll keep my fingers crossed. Do you know what time the show starts?

- fiveoh2go - 05-27-2009

Yeah I'm still going as long as the weather cooperates. My boss attends the church putting on the show and told me that if I wanted a "good spot" to be there around 5, but the show officially starts at 6. I figure I'll show up around 6 and park in the back like I did last time. Give me a shout 435.2413.
