Benz Club AutoX - April 26 - Winchester VA - Jake - 04-14-2009 Just putting this out there... I've heard some good things about the Washington DC region of the Mercedes Benz club and how they do AutoX. Their first run of the season is April 26 and will be held at Millbrook High School in Winchester. I emailed Joe, the club prez, and he said that non-club members are allowed to run twice before joining the MB club. You're not required to have a Benz (duh) and I will be going on the 26th, considering how close Winchester is. Not sure yet on cost - I emailed Joe back but haven't received a reply. They don't do pre-registration, and he told me to show up around 8 AM to ensure I got a spot for the day, as that's when registration actually begins. Any interest? - kwq slvr - 04-14-2009 I ran with these guys 5 times last year and they are a great group of guys. The cost is $30 for they day and you are guaranteed 6 runs. I will probably show up but not run due to transfer case issues. - D_Eclipse9916 - 04-14-2009 Good! Finally someone going out to these autocrosses. I will be joining them or CDC as they have a cooperation with them that members go inbetween both clubs. And since ill be in nova again I wanna get back in autocrossing. - DavidL - 04-14-2009 Definitely interested! I will have to see what my work schedule looks like, but I would love to run up there with you! - Jake - 04-14-2009 bludevil12 Wrote:Definitely interested! I will have to see what my work schedule looks like, but I would love to run up there with you! Sounds good - just let me know! I'll post up again when the date gets a bit closer. - DavidL - 04-21-2009 Any more info Jake? I am definitely trying to go out, do they have an online registration? Any course maps? Thanks! - xvxax - 04-21-2009 Well after much deliberation I think I have to pass. I am pretty sure I blew another head gasket on my truck on the way back from Richmond so the chances are good I will either be working on it this weekend, or setting it on fire and kicking it off a cliff. Haven't decided yet. - Jake - 04-21-2009 bludevil12 Wrote:Any more info Jake? I am definitely trying to go out, do they have an online registration? Any course maps? Thanks! For David and others interested... $30 registration fee, but no pre-registration, so have cash on the day of the event. You are guaranteed six runs - three 'practice' in the AM and three for times in the afternoon. I'm not sure if they do fun runs or not. Registration starts at 8 AM so that's when I'd like to be there - and that's when my email contact suggested we arrive. Winchester is right about an hour north of here... meet up at Rockingham lot at 6:45 (ugh) with plans to leave at 7 AM? UPDATE: This message just showed up on their website (gws-mbca.org)... "Autocross #1 may not take place on April 26 as scheduled. Officials at Millbrook High School have not yet confirmed our autocross dates. We cannot get the required insurance until we have firm dates. Be sure to check the web site daily ÔÇô we will post here as soon as we have firm information on the date for Autocross #1." I will be checking the site regularly so I can post back here. If this is NOT a go, there is also a Wash. DC SCCA autox at FedEx Field on the same day. That registration is at DLBracing.com for $35. - DavidL - 04-22-2009 Ah man I would rather not have to go all the way up to Fedex.. I guess just keep us updated! Thanks jake |
