Pretty cool, although that range is nothing to write home about. Would be good for tooling around town short distances until they get even better battery technology.

31 hp with a max speed of 60 mph? Meh.

- BLINGMW - 04-09-2009

seems like it should be able to go faster than 60 with that power.... :dunno: Maybe they just geared it too low

Probably direct drive?

I realize they can change the gearing, I'm just saying, you can accelerate quickly or you can have a high top speed, but without gear changes you gotta pick one.

- BLINGMW - 04-09-2009

well yeah. You're saying there's no transmission. And you're probably right. But yes, I'm saying I would have gone with a different rear gear so it could at least keep up on the highway!

The eco-maniacs that this bike is marketed towards typically don't care if they travel 5mph under the speed limit on the highway...

Tell that to the Prius owners around here...

Electric motors have silly amounts of torque. Seems like they could have made that rear cog smaller for higher top speed without sacrificing acceleration too much. Although methinks that might cause higher load and shorter battery life.

with how high the price is, it better use LiIon batteries and not lead acid.
