Daily show this past week - Andy - 03-13-2009 Anyone watch the past week and especially, the interview with Jim Cramer? dailyshow.com has the full interview. It could of been really good cause Stewart was trying to have a conversation and Cramer was on full PR control. I really think that as much I read about economics and markets, I don't know anything about anything and in the end, my financial future is really out of my hands. Re: Daily show this past week - .RJ - 03-13-2009 Andy Wrote:in the end, my financial future is really out of my hands. Get a job you dirty hippie!   - Evan - 03-13-2009 saw the clip. I laughed at the hypocrisy of Stewart telling someone else for putting entertainment above journalism. the scapegoating "its your fault everyone lost all their money!!!!!!111corporate greed!!111bushitler!!111" is pretty damn lame. Stewart is an idiot. - Goodspeed - 03-13-2009 I missed it last night but just watched it through the website and that was a great interview. When Stewart really cares to take it to the next level its always a good show, and I think he really put the irresponsibility of financial reporting shows out there for everyone to see. - Apoc - 03-13-2009 Evan Wrote:saw the clip. I laughed at the hypocrisy of Stewart telling someone else for putting entertainment above journalism. That's great and all if Stewart was... you know... trying to be a journalist instead of an entertainer. - Andy - 03-13-2009 Evan Wrote:saw the clip. I laughed at the hypocrisy of Stewart telling someone else for putting entertainment above journalism. What? Where in the world did you see all of that? Watch the whole interview, Evan. - Goodspeed - 03-13-2009 Evan Wrote:saw the clip. I laughed at the hypocrisy of Stewart telling someone else for putting entertainment above journalism. I think you need to watch the clip again...Stewart said it was unfortunate that Cramer has become the face of this, and he spent most of the interview attacking the network and the people behind financial reporting, not just Cramer. And I know you'll argue "Stewart just serves the left agenda zomg!!" but he is highly, highly intelligent, far more than he puts on most of the time. Don't forget he's a comedian, first and foremost. - Evan - 03-13-2009 Apoc Wrote:He runs a news show that a significant portion of young people get their news from. That makes him a journalist. Hes been hiding behind the "IM ON COMEDY CENTRAL" bullshit as an excuse for his shitty journalism since he started. Does Jay Leno's stand up count as news too? Gun makers aren't responsible for what people do with their guns and Stewart isn't responsible if he's the only source young people use. - Andy - 03-13-2009 Evan Wrote:Andy Wrote:Evan Wrote:saw the clip. Had you gone to www.dailyshow.com like i wrote in my first post and watched the unedited interview without reading the commentary, maybe you would've arrived at a different conclusion. Also, why the hell am I getting these hippie digs? I'm not a hippie. I just live in SF and eat organic foods and drink raw milk. - Evan - 03-13-2009 worst analogy ever and still not relevant to the discussion. At least attempt to make an intelligent contribution to a thread every once in a while Chris. - Evan - 03-13-2009 just pointing out Andy that Im not the only one who took that impression away from the interview. Scapegoating, blaming evil corporations, and Stewart being a hypocrite. You are free to disagree. I was actually going to post that clip in the friday funnies thread. - Apoc - 03-13-2009 Evan Wrote:worst analogy ever and still not relevant to the discussion. It's pretty easy, people aren't responsible if other misuse... and that's the key there... misuse... their information or products. You should heed your own advice and maybe grow the fuck up while you're at it. Are you sure that fiance of yours has seen the real you, or would she reconsider? - Evan - 03-13-2009 Apoc Wrote:Evan Wrote:worst analogy ever and still not relevant to the discussion. quoted so you cant edit it like you usually do when you say something stupid. but thanks for proving my point. (and best of all, what you just said proves how much of a hypocrite stewart is in this instance) have any more ![]() - Apoc - 03-13-2009 Evan Wrote:quoted so you cant edit it like you usually do when you say something stupid. I figured I'd lower myself to your level so maybe you'd understand the words that were comin' out of my mouf. If you ate more brain food instead of that bullshit from the other thread, maybe you could play with all the other kiddies in the neighborhood. - Evan - 03-13-2009 Apoc Wrote:You should heed your own advice or have you been watching too much Fox News to figure out intelligent conversation when you hear it? called it! ![]() Im the one making an intelligent argument on the subject at hand, and you havent even said a single sentence about what the thread is about. Typical nitpicking, ad hominem arguments, red herrings and insults. but if you would like to comment on what the thread is actually about after already posting 5 times, Id love to hear it. - Apoc - 03-13-2009 Evan Wrote:Im the one making an intelligent argument on the subject at hand, Evan Wrote:the scapegoating "its your fault everyone lost all their money!!!!!!111corporate greed!!111bushitler!!111" is pretty damn lame. Now I get it... since I'm not using ! and 1, I'm not making intelligent arguments!!!1111! - Mike - 03-13-2009 you mean this thread isn't about discussing how big a douche evan is? damn, i'll go back to my popcorn. - ViPER1313 - 03-13-2009 I saw it, very entertaining. Evan Wrote:saw the clip. I laughed at the hypocrisy of Stewart telling someone else for putting entertainment above journalism. You do realize the Daily Show is a comedy show right? It runs stories it makes up out of thin air. Stewart just likes calling people out who have jobs at legitimate news stations (CNBC, Fox News in particular) that don't do real journalism. Evan Wrote:the scapegoating "its your fault everyone lost all their money!!!!!!111corporate greed!!111bushitler!!111" is pretty damn lame. Stewart is an idiot. He wasn't saying it was Cramer's fault that everyone lost their money or the economy tanked. He was calling Cramer out on not doing his job as a financial analyst for a major news network and basing his recommendations / advise off poorly researched conversations with the exec of Bear Stearns, etc... Ninja Edit: For the record, I didn't lock this thread |
