Pictures in signatures - Mike - 01-22-2004

I absolutely hate them...

- .RJ - 01-22-2004

stop the insanity, not allowed

- Mike - 01-22-2004

Unfortunately it's not a simple option for us to disable, I'm gonna ask around on the phpBB forums for an answer. I guess we could always just ban anyone that uses one Tongue

- Dave - 01-22-2004

I like them personally

- BLINGMW - 01-22-2004

and 3 line sig max. In fact, if it's got more chars than your post, you're pushing it

- Mike - 01-22-2004

Found a solution, Jack? Tongue

Quote:You can hack usercp_register.php in the includes dir if you like, but it's a dangerous piece of work.
BACK UP BEFORE YOU TRY THIS. I DON'T WANT TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOU BREAKING PHPBB2.

Around line 120, add this:

$signature = str_replace('[img]', "", $signature);
$signature = str_replace('[/img]', "", $signature);

That'll change it to a link, rather than an image.

- Team - 01-22-2004

I hate them... not that it really matters about my opinion

- JackoliciousLegs - 01-22-2004

I'll deal with it after we get more votes... I am pro pics in sig... i'll get rid of them if they're voted out

- .RJ - 01-22-2004

I'm going to put a 2mb 2272x1704 pic in my sig?

F'ing ricers! Tongue

- Mike - 01-22-2004

Sig pics are to webboards in much the same way altezzas are to cars.

- Mike - 01-23-2004

Looks like that's a 2:1 vote (almost), we gonna kill 'em. In addition to the vote, they're driving me nuts, so yeah, that's reason enough.

- Team - 01-23-2004

Thats soooo annoying...

- .RJ - 01-23-2004

No shit!

Thats my point. Sigs should be short and no pictures. Quality over quantity here - if we want to present a professional image for the club for events, shows, sponsorships, etc we cant make ourselves look like assbags.

If the forums were full of junk, people will go to the site and say "these guys suck, i dont want to go to their car show"

- Mike - 01-23-2004

Indeed.

Careful if you goto hacking the board, it is pretty finky. We had a nice hacked board that I ran up here in MD, one day boom, the whole thing blew up. I have no idea what happened but nothing would work. We got so fed up with it that we bough vBulletin.

Personally with a small board I like banners in sigs. When you start to get to heavy traffic board w/ 1000's of users they are annoying. I say leave them here.

Damn Mike!! I'm going to get arthitis bc of scrolling down so much with the mouse!

- Maengelito - 01-23-2004

you proved your point mike... i personally hate pics in sigs too, but if people really insist on having them, i say keep the size of it under a certain level... kinda like avataRRRs

- .RJ - 01-23-2004

Yeah but where do we stop?

How do we police the sizes of the pictures?

What if some people are still using 800x600 screens and it throws off tabling?

If you just make them go away, then there's no other questions Smile

- Kaan - 01-23-2004

damnit mike stop that shit... ban it!

- .RJ - 01-23-2004

If you have pictures you need to share with the world about your car, put them on a website and either make a thread about it or put the link to it in your sig.... IMHO.

Oh, and if you ever remote link an image for your signature, you will be very unhappy one day.
