I was there thurs am till yesterday about 6. It was awesome time. Camped right in the infield against the fence at nascar turn 3. had garage and pit passes. Ill be there again next year. Tons of cool vintage daytona 24 cars on display too

- ScottyB - 01-26-2009

probably the best prototype racing i've seen. i was on the edge of my seat the entire last hour.

plus, i like seeing montoya get beat. i always thought he was an ass...talented, but an ass.

- BLAIR - 01-26-2009

it was very cool to see the top 4 cars sp close after 24 hours. Deff was an awesome finish. Im trying to find a pic of the car crossing the finish. I was against the fence right under the flagger.

GO BRUMOS

- PDenbigh - 01-27-2009

Nice man! I bet that really was great up close in person.

- Goodspeed - 01-27-2009

Does anyone know what happened to the Farnbacher Loles team car (#87 I believe)? I was rooting for them and I heard they broke something and bowed out, but without SPEED here I couldn't really follow the action :x

Blair, got any pics?

- kcook - 01-27-2009

blair how do you get passes like that. id love to go to one of these races.

Book a plane ticket and go! Big races are a blast when you're there Smile

12 Hours of Sebring is in March if you wanna go. I've been there twice and had a good time. Only thing that sucks is that Sebring is flat so it's hard to get a good vantage point. On the bright side it's got a big party vibe and everyone's really friendly there. I would go this year but I've got a big Europe trip planned for April/May.

- ScottyB - 01-29-2009

so the winning Brumos car is found 12 lbs. underweight at post race inspection but they are only fined, not disqualified. what do you guys think?

- Kaan - 01-29-2009

12lbs in a 24 hour race? i'd need to see the rules to form an opinion, but why would a car need to see scales after 24 hours? thats just stupid.

I'd like to read about that - mind sharing a link?

Thanks!

"ÔÇó The winning No. 58 Brumos Racing Porsche Riley was found to be out of compliance for minimum vehicle weight in post-race technical inspection. The car was found to be 12 pounds underweight. The team was fined $5,000 in addition to five driver, team and manufacturer points. This will not affect the race results."

is 12 lbs. that big of a deal at this level of racing and this type of event? maybe a peice of the car got knocked off....

- Dave - 01-30-2009

i don't think the level of racing should have any affect on it, but a lot of shit goes down on a 24 hour enduro race, so I'm kinda shocked they make them even roll over the scales.

I agree... a car wrecks and you have to patch it together or run without body parts or something... wear and tear, oil burn, fuel use, tire use, etc... it just seems dumb to weight a car at the end of a race of that duration.

- ViPER1313 - 01-30-2009

You could easily lose 12 lbs of tires between a worn and new set. I think the fine was fair - teams at that level should know that their car should still come in at the correct weight (unless there was an accident, I will give them that) with worn tires, lower oil, low fuel, etc.

- Dave - 01-30-2009

Seriously, both of the Brumos cars looked like they had driven through hell and back. Maybe the white paint just showed it more than the others, but they looked rough crossing the finish line.

Kaan Wrote:it just seems dumb to weight a car at the end of a race of that duration.

Thats how its always done - always weighed at the end of the race, even enduros. The team should know what weight the car is going to come off of the track at, even on an empty fuel load but the 12 lbs is not significant, so the officials decision is a good one Smile

you just buy them. it was a 4 day super pass.

I got tons of pics.. Ill try and put some together

Bringing this thread back from the dead. One thing I've noticed from watching this is even in pro racing the yellow flag is mostly ignored
