someone (neighbor) hit my car - l33t Mr2 - 01-17-2009 So, the other day my girlfriend is like, "Hey, Matt there is some salt or something on your bumper. I think it may be a scratch." So, I go look at it and there is this giant bumper rash on my bumper. Pretty bad definatley not going to come out with some elbow grease. No note, no door bell.. nothing. I haven't driven my car for at least a week. And it was not there before because I would know if i back up into something. Therefor the suspect could have been from only one spot.... my neighbors house. So, I did a llittle looking around and invetigating. The paint reminance on my bumper was white. So, I look across my driveway towards my neighbors side and I see a white car. Then I look at her bumper and there is a little red scratch on her white car. Hmmmm...... So, I go ring the doorbell. And I ask them about it everyone looks around at each other..."oooohh oooh it wasnt mee no no. " me- "Well there is white paint on my bumper and red paint on a white cars bumper." Ooohh really??? S That's my car...... So, she goes outside and looks at it and is obviously feeling a little guilty as she asked, "how can I fix this" "Can I buy you paint" "I'm sorry". So, I told her I would get a quote on repainting it. and she basically agreed to pay. I then took some pictures of everything. 6 minutes later she rings on my doorbell. I am in the middle of internet poker so.. this is just really something I want to discuss right now. So she comes back and says "when you get the quote can we talk about this? I don't want to give you money and then you fix your car." So, I tell her that basically I'm not going to help her pay for something that she did. And if you give me money to repaint my bumper im going to repaint my bumper. Next, Day. hahah she brings her boyfriend over I guess to intimadate me? I wasnt home though. So, basically what would you reccomend I do in this situation? Call the cops? Take her to court? - l33t Mr2 - 01-17-2009 tbc - Goodspeed - 01-17-2009 That sucks Matt, sorry to hear that happened to the MR2. Hope you get it sorted out...I'd try at least contacting the police to see what your options are with them. I've always thought when this situation happens either a) the person either leaves a note or admits to it when you find them, and pays or b) you never know who did it and never get compensated. No idea what to do when c) you find the person, they own up to it but don't want to pay for it.Oh, and if she comes back with her BF, shoot him in the leg. - Dave - 01-18-2009 calling the cops isn't going to accomplish anything b/c they weren't notified when you discovered it and there is no real timeframe or proof. You need to take pictures of both cars immediately and get her to sign something now saying that she admits to it and will pay the necessary fees to remedy it. I've been in this exact same situation, but slightly worse, and got fucked b/c I never got any signed documentation to their admitting it. - Feersty - 01-18-2009 That sucks dude. What kind of area do you park in? - Sijray21 - 01-18-2009 filing a police report couldn't hurt, if you still can - Goodspeed - 01-18-2009 It also probably wouldn't hurt to conceal a tape recorder on you or in a room and get her to admit hitting your car, or a video camera if in the latter situation. - Mike - 01-19-2009 Feersty Wrote:That sucks dude. What kind of area do you park in? Gonna guess a parking lot at jmu. - l33t Mr2 - 01-19-2009 It was parked in my driveway (we share it with our neighbors). I havent driven it until today when i got the quote which is 311-355 dollars. SHIT |
