HANS device- need some help - Chris - 12-20-2008 I'm looking at buying this HANS device off the NASA forums, but I think the guy has listed it as the wrong model. He claims its a professional model, but the picture of the label he emailed me says the Economy model. Can someone give me their opinion on his price, even if it is the Economy model? If you guys agree with me that he listed the wrong model, I may offer him less than his asking price and tell him why. What would be a reasonable offer (the economy model new is $895)? Thanks for your help! - Apoc - 12-20-2008 Maybe I'm a sissy, but I'd want the thing re-certified. He doesn't say why he's selling and it seems suspect that no one has bitten even a little bit in almost 3 weeks. It might be because he asks for money order only and $500 is a lot to hope he makes good on. Personally, I'd walk away.... but that's not an answer to your question. - Chris - 12-20-2008 yeah I asked him about pay pal. Here is the email I received: Chris, The Hans is still available. Included are directions to mount the helmet anchors which were purchased with the Hans Professional device. I was unaware there are different anchor models, so yes, these must be professional. Attached is a high res picture of the tag you requested. I have a paypal account and as long as there are no limits on the amount of money I can accept, AND, this is a direct transfer (i.e. NO credit or debit cards - I am not a business and do not have a business account) I don't see any reason why that would not work. I am just about to post up my Schroth Hybrid III - Hans Black 6-point Lap-Snapon/PullUP-FIA Hans safety belts (expire Dec 31 2010). I used these belts because they are designed for use with the Hans. They come complete with directions for installation and adjustment. I am in the process of determining a fair price based on age and discounted for "used"; probably around $125 None of my safety equipment has been involved in an accident. - Mike - 12-20-2008 The label pretty clearly says "Model 20S Economy." I'd say 50% of retail would be fair unless they expire. - PDenbigh - 12-20-2008 Chris, A new HANS is 695.00 at OG Racing, BEFORE their NASA discount. Unless you get a great deal on that one and you are CERTAIN it's never been wrecked, dropped, flexed, sat on, dropped, etc, I'd suggest paying the little more for the new one and I think they install the helmet mounts for free... - Ole - 12-21-2008 PDenbigh Wrote:Chris, or left out in the sun and heat for long periods of time. - Ginger - 12-21-2008 I'm with Pete and Oles - questionable safety equipment can be worse than not having it at all. Spend the extra few bucks and revel in the shiny brand new stuff you just got
- Chris - 12-21-2008 yeah you guys are probably right. I was hoping to get the lighter model for the same price as the sport model. How many of you own one? What's more convenient/comfortable/safe- sliding tethers or quick disconnect tethers? I have a Sparco circuit seat with the side head bolsters so I'm trying to gauge how much side to side movement I need. - Apoc - 12-21-2008 I have the economy model with sliding tethers and have absolutely zero complaints. There may be something better out there but I'm happy with my return on investment. - Ole - 12-22-2008 Its like getting laid....deep down its all the same. The only difference is the useless dressing and appearance - Chris - 12-23-2008 Ole Wrote:Its like getting laid....deep down its all the same. The only difference is the useless dressing and appearance haha alright then - Ole - 12-23-2008 I may know of someone selling one if you are interested. I know for a fact that he has taken care of it. |
