WTB: Verizon Phone - Ginger - 12-01-2008 It's not definite yet, as I'm going to try a spare battery this evening, but it appears that my phone has bit the dust. Since the plan the phone is on is not in my name, nor paid by me, I do not have the option of renewing it for a free/cheap phone.... sooo, who has a Verizon phone they're no longer using? Unfortunately, I have to be picky: the phone needs to be "Chaperone - Child" capable... but that's pretty much my only requirement. Re: WTB: Verizon Phone - Evan - 12-01-2008 Ginger Wrote:Unfortunately, I have to be picky: the phone needs to be "Chaperone - Child" capable... but that's pretty much my only requirement.:?: - Ginger - 12-01-2008 My Dad and I both use "Child" chaperone phones as a safety measure on motorcycle trips, since we both travel alone a lot. A lot of police departments won't activate the "911 Locator" until you've been missing for 24-48 hours, which would probably leave you dead if you've had a motorcycle accident. By using the Chaperone feature we can get an exact location and take alternative recovery steps ourselves. It might sound silly, I don't know, but it's worth the peace of mind. Footnote: the "Child" feature is important in this arrangement, as the "Parent" phone cannot be located through the Web interface (however, the "Parent" phone can forego the Web interface and locate any of the child phones on the plan directly). The "Parent" phone on our plan sits in a drawer at my Dad's house and never gets used. - Ginger - 12-01-2008 I forgot to mention: Chaperone is a GPS locator system. - Ole - 12-01-2008 I have 2 of these: http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/deta ... I730ZKVXAR I don't know if they have the feature you are looking for. - Ginger - 12-01-2008 No dice ![]() Thanks, though. - Mike - 12-01-2008 I think you need to buy a new phone. - CaptainHenreh - 12-01-2008 Mike Wrote:I think you need to buy a new phone. Yet another instance of Mikey channeling feersty. It's eerie. Feerie? - Mike - 12-01-2008 CaptainHenreh Wrote:Mike Wrote:I think you need to buy a new phone. Oh come on... He's hoping someone here has a verizon phone, for free, that has some odd feature that none of us have even heard about. It's a bit of a stretch... I was just calling it out. - CaptainHenreh - 12-01-2008 I'm sure the thought of a new phone had at least crossed his mind. - HAULN-SS - 12-01-2008 I got an old one in a drawer back home..i'll check when home - D_Eclipse9916 - 12-01-2008 I have a renewal up so im getting a new phone. I got a samsung SCH-A930 with external memory card. Its unlocked and hacked to play your own mp3s even with verizon with the sd card I have for it along with the mp3 player buttons externally to the phone. Dont know if its parent-child-douchebag capable. - Mike - 12-01-2008 CaptainHenreh Wrote:I'm sure the thought of a new phone had at least crossed his mind. He's a ginger... They don't think like the rest of us. Anyway, it seems as if he's willing to pay for one... I wouldn't think of charging a friend for a used phone

Thanks, for the brilliant suggestion on buying one, though, I hadn't thought of it. Although Mike may not charge his friends for a used phone, I certainly wouldn't be opposed to paying for one (matter of fact, I sold one here... I paid nearly $400 for it, so I couldn't stomach giving it away). Yes, I need a phone that has a feature a lot of folks haven't heard of, but that doesn't mean that the phone won't have it - I believe 14 of the phones Verizon currently sells are capable... and if somebody doesn't know, I'll figure out if it is compatable or not. If I can't get it here, oh well, but don't channel the Great Hate for trying to save a few bucks. - Ole - 12-01-2008 Gotta have thick skin to post on here. - CaptainHenreh - 12-01-2008 Ole Wrote:Gotta have thick skin to post on here.
