Show me a cool 1985 VW Jetta - PDenbigh - 09-10-2008

MM,

I need some examples of a 1980's VW Jetta that looks really flashy, aggressive, good, cool, etc, but well done. Preferably 4 door but if a 2 door existed that's ok too.

I know nothing about VW's and I know many of you do. I'm working at the JMU Alt Fuels lab and we're considering redoing it and making it look good.

Thanks!

Peter

seriously, i'm really interested in the outcome of this project

I'd check out the '85-'89 ones. the '90-'92 versions had big bumpers, but the small bumpers are a little more vintage.

i LOVE MKII VWs

YES!
Does the lack of a passenger mirror make the car pull to the left at speed or just make it uglier? :-)

- WRXtranceformed - 09-11-2008

Yeah I never got the obsession with these. Blair's Golf was kind of cool (it was a Golf right?) but the last thing I'd want to get myself involved with is a newer VW, much less an old, ugly one.

haha - the MKII forums are a LOT better than the MKIV forums...not nearly as many boi-racer wanna-be's

c'mon - who likes old VW's anyway? you have to be a little nostalgic to like old VWs Tongue

hahaha...i remember someone remarked that the MKIV forums "are like a toilet that flushes up"

count me in as a fan of the old MKII's...the last decent small VW in my opinion. grew up spending alot of time driving around in my best friend's white '85 GL in high school and then drove around some more in Jay's almost identical white hatch at JMU. i'm always nostalgic about them for that reason and they're just fun to be in.
