it all depends.. overall i wouldnt want it back, but depending on its value to you and how much you would get from insurance, in some cases it would be better to get it back assuming its not fucked up. The car was super clean and only 65k miles. My sister never even ate in the car, owned it since new, and had no plans on replacing it any time soon. With what insurance will give her, she wont be able to replace it. And who says anything about wanting it back. I wouldnt mind giving an assbeating to the fucker who took it and put his ass in jail.

There's a 99% chance that the car is trashed beyond belief - and with that chance, you don't want the car back. Trust me, from an insurance perspective, you don't want it back. She'll just have to argue with the insurance company about it's value...

Simple / short answer - because it's not a revenue generator. "Protect and serve" is no longer a benefactor to the citizens, rather is oriented towards the municipalities' mission.
