Thinking of getting new sway bar...? - Sijray21 - 07-27-2004

I'm thinking of getting an ITR or other 22mm-24mm sway. Will this be a direct replacement on my car (in sig)?

if i get the ITR with endlinks and brackets will it be direct bolt on replace?

i have the haynes ( i know need the helms :p), but i was just wondering, threads are kinda slow today too Wink

Thanx guys.

with softish springs you could potentially rip your subframe. i'd recommend at the very least a reinforcement kit if you aren't going to increase your spring rates.

edit: to answer your question, HT. i don't think anyone here knows anything about EMs.

even with just a 22mm? I feel that ITR springs are softer than the GC's i have.

what pounds are your springs f/r jay? i would think you should be fine considering your car's stiffness, plus the rear lower tie bar. on my accord i didnt have to reinforce since the bar thickness/solidity increase was only a small amount.

i was thinking the rear tie might help with it, but it's a big bump up (13mm - 22mm)...nearly double. Plus i've read about the subframe tearing under stress conditions

FYI: i have a skunk2 rear tie

true, true...but your car doesnt have much suspension movment as it is  if you were on stock springs id be waaay more leary about it. tough question though. i guess hit HT and see what you can dig up.

if you wanna go bigger rear sway bar..

I'd go with the comptech kit, havent heard YET of anyone tearing their subframes with it.. Its the same as the ITR except with a lower tie bar worked into it.

If not, I'd reccomend buying the Beaks SRK reinforment kit [search google for his website] and buy the bar, brackets, bushings, and reinforment kit from him..

You dont need new endlinks, as you use SI endlinks with the hype-R sway bar..

Careful with the Beaks kit, because the nut[s] he supplies with the kit where the bar attaches to the endlink at too small..

2 Friends have ripped the metal collar or whatever insdie the swaybar out Sad

ITR has a much stiffer frame than your Civic.

wow, just called up ground control. Any spring rate i want is only $60 per corner, i think i might just upgrade to higher spring rates....

now to figure out what a good setting to be...:Confusedearching on h-t and other websites::

i like my friends setup on his CX hatch..

Neuspeed OTS Koni Yellows
GC 500/550's

he has the ITR rear sway, no signs of stress on the subframe either..

navin Wrote:he has the ITR rear sway, no signs of stress on the subframe either..

because he has high rates durrrrr

- Sijray21 - 07-27-2004

well mike, i'm thinking of higher spring rates now...wasn't aware of the low price on custom spring rates from GC in combination with my stock 13mm sway.

i did however find a pretty good deal on an ITR rear sway with endlinks, one bracket, and bushings for $100 (shipped). Were you still interested in it, i can relay the information.

Reinforce the subframe. Competch, or this http://www.a-spec-racing.com/ or Beaks.

The rates you'll need to keep it from tearing you wont want to run on the street. I'd recommend 350/450 for street/autox.

that sounds pretty resonable, just found out my spring rates are 340f/250r. So really i would only need to bump up the rear about 200lb/in.

You'd be suprised, peple have ripped their subframe with somewhat medium rates..

Jackson on h-tech, ripped his subframe with the beaks + itr rear sway + Tein HA's..

i have been running an ITR rear sway with eibach prokit springs for many track events now. the ITR bar is using the BSQ reinforcement kit, which was surprisingly easy to install and only cost like $30 more. i think the difference between the 13mm and 22mm bars was like night and day... very very nice. i've got koni yellows with GC springs now, so hopefully it'll feel like its on rails Big Grin

And if it does, you're not driving fast enough Wink

- navin - 07-28-2004

I might get of my 450 lb springs soon...

going up to 600's Smile

- Kaan - 07-28-2004

i feel the NEED for my koni GC setup now! 400/550... in a short wheelbase.... time to go to drift school

- Mike - 07-28-2004

yup! 400/550 here. the ass was very happy to step out this past weekend Smile
