Visiting San Francisco & San Jose - Apoc - 07-11-2008 I've gotten a bunch of ideas from friends who have already been I'm curious what this group thinks. I've got a week in the area, including 2.5 days in SF and 3.5 in SJ. We will have a car, Andy and I are going to Laguna for MotoGP so what else is there? I'm looking for places I must eat, things I must see and hippies and/or homos I must hate on. Okay go! - HAULN-SS - 07-11-2008 fishermans wharf for eatz Re: Visiting San Francisco & San Jose - Evan - 07-11-2008 Apoc Wrote:and hippies and/or homos I must hate on.you dont have enough time to even scratch the surface - JackoliciousLegs - 07-11-2008 HAULN-SS Wrote:fishermans wharf for eatzMeh, sure. The one place I really recommend going (especially since you have a car) is Tartine Bakery. There's always a line, but it's always worth it. IMO, it's the best bakery in the city. My startup spiders the web for user opinions and it's one of the top places to eat in SF... even though it's just a bakery. http://www.yelp.com/biz/tartine-bakery-san-francisco - JackoliciousLegs - 07-11-2008 Nix that, it's the second top rated dining establishment in SF, from across the web. ![]() ![]() - Evan - 07-11-2008 hey jack can you give me a beta account to that site? - JackoliciousLegs - 07-11-2008 If you want an invite to the site, go to goplanit.com and sign up for an invite. We should be able to send a round of beta invites next friday, maybe a couple sooner. I was planning on inviting everyone in MM first. Edit: I'll approve you asap for an invite. :-) - Maengelito - 07-11-2008 JackoliciousLegs Wrote:HAULN-SS Wrote:fishermans wharf for eatzMeh, sure. I'm not big on seafood, but Jenn loved the food at Scoma's which is on the wharf. The portions were not small by any stretch of the imagination and its a pretty nice place. I dont know if you're into seafood, Chris, but if so, I'd check it out. on a side note, the older brother of a friend of mine from high school started yelp. I hear its really popular in San Fran. The Charlottesville membership is lacking severely. - JackoliciousLegs - 07-11-2008 Yeah, yelp is huge here. Kinda like craigslist before it spread like wildfire. - John - 07-11-2008 San Jose is pretty *yawn* - I'd spend most of your time in SF or go north to Evan's favorite - wine country. yelp.com is a decent resource on restaurants in SF - be sure to get some sushi! - G.Irish - 07-14-2008 Here's a flyer for the USGP: ![]() - Apoc - 07-15-2008 Is there anything regarding the CA wildfires we need to know about? (I'm looking in Jack's direction.) - Evan - 07-15-2008 John Wrote:go north to Evan's favorite - wine country.dont forget the fois gras! - JackoliciousLegs - 07-15-2008 Apoc Wrote:Is there anything regarding the CA wildfires we need to know about? Not that I know of. I've been able to commute to Santa Cruz without a problem. My car did get coated with a layer of ash for a week or two when I was down there, but they generally keep the roadways open. You can always call the CHP hotline or check their site if you're worried. I spoke with a Ranger in Big Sur and he said they closed the 1 for a few hours last week, but that's rare. - John - 08-03-2008 Chris - you have photos up from your trip? - Apoc - 08-04-2008 I have the non-processed, all-inclusive versions up. http://www.derecola.com/archives/cali08 On my list of things to do this week is to clean a bunch up and get them onto my photography site. - Apoc - 08-08-2008 I got all the fancy stuff online but am too lazy to post examples. Click through if you're interested... there are only about 4 dozen total.
