Project Rip and Flip: 95 Integra LS - Mike - 05-31-2008 ![]() '95 Integra LS. 212k on the odometer, 35k on an ITR trans. Plan on selling this as soon as I do the following: - trade ITR trans with the hatch's LS one. - pull out Del Sol seats, sell for 150, replace with tan integra seats that people give away - clean up and sell the gsr "swirlies" and new kumho asx tires. replace with some stock steelies with hubcaps. I don't see having any problem selling it for what I bought it for after that. Mechanically, it is mint (recently replaced pads and rotors all around, front wheel bearings, front lower ball joints, axles, end links, brake lines, front calipers, main relay, timing belt, and water pump), cosmetically it is pretty awful, but I anticipate being able to clean it up quite a bit, and electrically, it is loaded and everything works. - white_2kgt - 05-31-2008 some of the body panels don't look like they line up? was it hit? also why's it draggin ass? and good luck /w cleaning those wheels, damn - Dave - 05-31-2008 Chad's right, it looks a little off, but I think it might just be the picture. Hood popped? Step 1: Remove dead body from trunk... - Mike - 05-31-2008 Hood is popped in the above picture. Car hasn't been in any major accidents, but numerous minor ones. Clean title... It is by far the dirtiest car I've ever laid eyes on. I've vacuumed and shined up the interior. Trans is drained, all the little bullshit is pulled from the top, starting on the main bolts now, but I've gotta head out for the night. I'm having fun so far, but I assume I'l be singing a different tune next week after after done 2 trans removals and installations ![]() The wheels? Yeah, they're trash. I rubbed em a tiny bit, but no luck. Fucking cobalts... ![]() I bought the car off a former student of mine... He bought it 40k miles ago from the original owner (old lady). Compression numbers are surprisingly high for a 200k+ car. - Mike - 05-31-2008 white_2kgt Wrote:also why's it draggin ass? it has itr shocks all around and eibach lowering springs. i looked at it on a hill and it looked as if one side was a bit lower than the other... ![]() ![]() - Mike - 06-02-2008 spent a couple hours tonight. feel i'm removing a lot more things than when we did the clutch/flywheel install. anyway, going by the helms and i'm going to be replacing all the odds and ends it says to... feel much better than just eying it up and doing what looks to be right in what looks to be the correct order. car definitely needs some new tie rod ends, but i'll leave that up to the next owner. otherwise, axles are mint, bushings are all ok, and balljoints are healthy. surprising... need to remove the clutch cover and drop that bitch. should probably figure out what i'm gonna drop it on first, eh? anyone have a tranny jack? know of a place that sells them? know of a place that rents them? really nice not being in any sort of rush to get this shit done. - Evan - 06-02-2008 nice project for free parts do you need a jack for a honda trans? miata trans which is bigger is easy to lift by hand - .RJ - 06-02-2008 No jack needed, pull it off and drop it on a tire. Put it back in by balancing it on a floor jack. Dont remove the rear engine mount - just take out the 2x19mm bolts that go through the trans case, we made that mistake before and its not needed. - Mike - 06-02-2008 i have no ideas what these things weigh. will i be able to support its weight? edit: looks like it's gonna take me 1.5 nights of not so strenuous (start at 630, end when i cant see well [830]) to do 1/4 of this work (pulling one). fun! ![]() edit #2: if you have enough grease on you, mosquitoes will come close, smell it, and fly far away. - .RJ - 06-02-2008 They're ~80 lbs. If you get under it and drop it on your chext it will probably hurt a little (been there) but it wont kill you. I recommend using a dismounted tire. - Mike - 06-02-2008 i can bench 4 times that. BRING IT ON. jagerbombs. - mrbaggio - 06-03-2008 Mike Wrote:i can bench 4 times that. BRING IT ON. Get a hair cut first - Mike - 06-03-2008 f'ing rain. spent 2 minutes trying to remove the spring pin from the shift linkage. helms says i need an 8mm punch... off to sears... looks like rain the rest of the week and then i'm out of town friday to sunday... siiiigh. - .RJ - 06-03-2008 Sears wont have the proper punch. I've got one, but wont be home until friday but G should be home if you want to come get it. - Mike - 06-03-2008 where'd you get it? i'd like to pick one up in case i need it in the future. - .RJ - 06-03-2008 I got it from Mcmaster - 8mm rolled pin punch. Buy two, just in case and a pair of 5mm pin punches as well for the next time the timing belt is due. - ViPER1313 - 06-04-2008 Mike Wrote:f'ing rain. spent 2 minutes trying to remove the spring pin from the shift linkage. helms says i need an 8mm punch... off to sears... looks like rain the rest of the week and then i'm out of town friday to sunday... siiiigh. Or just use a drill bit and hammer.... or a screw driver bit and a c-clamp....or a phillips head screw driver. - Mike - 06-04-2008 i've tried a screwdriver... may give drill bit a go. rj, they say to replace this f'ing spring pin when reinstalling. yes? no? they also say the same for the set clips on the axles. yes? no? - .RJ - 06-04-2008 ViPER1313 Wrote:Or just use a drill bit and hammer.... or a screw driver bit and a c-clamp....or a phillips head screw driver. Wont work due to the design of the pin. Anything other than an 8mm punch will just destroy the pin, or not get it out. No need to replace the axle c-clips or the pin *unless* they are damaged on removal... they are cheap so having spares on hand is not a terrible idea. - ViPER1313 - 06-04-2008 So use an 8mm or 5/16 drill bit. How is that any different from using a punch? |
