Project Integra RS - Sijray21 - 05-09-2008 Hey Guys/Gals, I wanted to make a thread just for this car as it's turning back into more of a project car. I bought this 1998 Integra in August of 2005 with a little under 70k miles on the odo. The integra RS is the base model integra and this was actually the last year they made this car. It has no ABS, no Sunroof, and no Cruise Control, however it does have a couple options that i want: A/C and power windows. When i first bought this car i was hesitant to purchase it due to the previous owner's lack of knowledge about the car (or appeared lack of knowledge about the car) and the tan interior (i think they're hideous, especially with a dark exterior). I figured i'd turn this thing into more of a 'toy' car since it's really not what i want in a DD anyway: air bags not functioning (...i know, it's bad...), no keyless entry, no ABS, loud road noise. Finally with the addition of the rollbar, it's capacity to carry 4-5 people are gone. I also decided to go with the Kirk Racing as opposed to the popular Autopower rollbar due to the design. I like how the rear mounts actually bolt to the rear frame rails instead of the rear wheel wells. Current Mods: Koni Yellow Shocks GC Coils/Perches (#500 x 4) K&N Filter Falken Azenis (RT-215s) Concept One KR-314 wheels Kirk Racing Bolt-In Rollbar BHP PR3 Brake pads Hidden Hitch class 0 hitch I really don't have much in terms of modifications, but i think it's sufficient for what i use it for. I'll add more stuff later, but i'm going to save for a nicer, newer DD. Anyway, pics of the progress: After i bought the car: First Day at the track: Interior Swap: After a wash at the Oakton House: Latest Safety addition: Finally, i'm not sure of the current plans, but i want to keep it track-capable and reliable. I'm thinking of adding harnesses, seats, and an aftermarket steering wheel. After the falken's run out, i'll be looking into replacing them with some sort of r-compound for additional braking and cornering ability. Until then the money will be going to gas and entry fees. I've done a lot of maintenance on this thing in the last 3 months so i'm hoping it won't need much for large maintenance for a while. - Andy - 05-09-2008 Yes. Rollbars are awesome. Once you get harnesses and proper race seats, you'll wonder how you were able to drive on street seats. - Dave - 05-09-2008 wow, that's a pretty bad-ass looking rollbar. Bout time you made this thread :-). +1 on the seats & harnesses. - Apoc - 05-09-2008 Is that license plate poking fun at RJ? - Evan - 05-09-2008 hah. that interior swap was such a clusterfuck! (and still no functioning airbags? :? ) almost as much of a clusterfuck as you trying to get rid of the old interior :p - .RJ - 05-09-2008 Whats wrong with the airbags? If you unplug them you need to reset the SRS computer - Mike - 05-09-2008 .RJ Wrote:Whats wrong with the airbags? If you unplug them you need to reset the SRS computer not on my hatch you don't hrug: - Chris - 05-10-2008 awesome Jay! roll bar looks really good, wish the timing worked out so I could have helped you install it. - ScottyB - 05-12-2008 looks awesome buddy  that thing is definitely coming along! - D_Eclipse9916 - 05-12-2008 what kind of bar is that? Its not autopower is it? - .RJ - 05-12-2008 Sijray21 Wrote:Kirk Racing Bolt-In Rollbar - Mike - 05-12-2008 D_Eclipse9916 Wrote:what kind of bar is that? Its not autopower is it? autopower is great for the mass-produced models. my civic (and his integra) would fit like gloves. haven't we been over this? - jongp3 - 05-12-2008 You don't still happen to have the stock Tan Seats do you? I need some badly. - D_Eclipse9916 - 05-12-2008 Mike Wrote:D_Eclipse9916 Wrote:what kind of bar is that? Its not autopower is it? lol yes, but im still nervous about a bolt-in cage, but it seems right now a better option as I want a weld in at some point, but I want a serious weld in so now might not be the time. - Dave - 05-12-2008 Why not get a bolt-in for now and when you're ready to take the dive for the weld-in, have them properly weld in the existing rollbar and then reinforce with the 40 points you want for your jungle gym. - Evan - 05-13-2008 there is much more to a weld-in bar than just being welded to the floorboard. IMO a welded bolt-in bar is the worst of both worlds. - D_Eclipse9916 - 05-13-2008 hahha no if I got the autopower it would be sold when I went to a real cage. - Mike - 05-27-2008 you still happen to have your tan front seats? - Sijray21 - 05-29-2008 Mike Wrote:you still happen to have your tan front seats? i still have the passenger seat, no driver's seat |
