anyone signed up for this yet? I really want to, just trying to work out the funds for this, new wheels/tires, and hyperfest... maybe I can push my tires for 2 weekends, and get the wheels/tires later.

- navin - 05-06-2008

Chris - just come to ITR expo instead at VIR.. I need a paddock buddy.

- Andy - 05-06-2008

You have plenty of tread on your current azenis. Why not use them up before you get new wheels and tires.

- Chris - 05-06-2008

see I think I have enough tread for 2 more weekends, but I don't want my brother to have shitty tires his first time on track at Hyperfest. How bad are azenis once they get low on tread?

Navin, I might consider the ITR event... how is the track time wiht that group?

i'm going to find out for you in a couple weekends. i'm still on the RT-215s and i'm planning on replacing them after atleast this event.

- Ole - 05-06-2008

If they are anything like Toyos, they get better before they are bald

Once you get into the wear bars the grip starts to go off.

- Evan - 05-07-2008

they are good until they are smooth, but usually by the time you hit the wear bars or a little after you do get a little hardening from heat cycling but no reason not to keep tracking them until they are bald. thats for the 215, they may have improved the 615

- Maengelito - 05-07-2008

I ran my 615s until they were bald. you could hardly see where there were any grooves in the tire, they looked like slicks.

- Chris - 05-07-2008

ok thanks guys, I'm about at the wear bars now. I'm itching to get on track soon, anyone actually thinking about this event?

- Chris - 05-10-2008

signed up for Advanced group! I'm a bit nervous about the new group but I've gotta do it someday. What are the groups and point-by rules with Mazda Drivers?

so no one else is going to join me?

- Evan - 05-10-2008

I may be there.

Not sure but I think Advanced is pass anywhere w/ point. I know instructor is...so i think advanced is too.

- Andy - 05-10-2008

MD is pretty "safe". Advanced is pass in straights but you get more of them. They're also slower than NASA's group 3 and the aggression level is way low so all in all, this would be a great way to transition into solo/advanced group. If you haven't driven VIR-Grand, you might want to ask someone who has to ride with you for a session with you to bring you up to speed.

- Chris - 06-07-2008
