turbo for 4age - balactm - 04-21-2008 anyone got an old turbo lying around that they're not using anymore. size doesn't matter here, i'm thinking about possibly adding a turbo to my car once i do the rebuild. not really looking to spend a shit load of money though either... mmmm, also, i'm not really looking to buy one yet, but possibly over the summer, i just wanted to see if anyone had one that i might be able to get at a later point - CaptainHenreh - 04-21-2008 I have one. T3 off a (I think) SVO. Make me an offer. It might be a little big for your 1.6 though... maybe not. - balactm - 04-21-2008 yeah i'm thinking a t3 is probably too much for my car. i was thinking something smaller. like a baby turbo... i'll let you know closer to the rebuild though. i'm taking the motor out the 2nd and 3rd of may. and then i have maymester so after that i'll be taking a closer look at what i have to work with. - D_Eclipse9916 - 04-21-2008 t25, perfect for that motor. - balactm - 04-21-2008 Quote:t25, perfect for that motor. do you have one? and if so...can i haz it? - D_Eclipse9916 - 04-21-2008 you cannot haz it, but we can work on a price. - Jeff - 04-21-2008 I have a Mitsu TEO4H that came off of a 89 Daytona ES. It was on my Daytona when I bought it. I used one on my van at 15psi with no problems. No shaft play, clean, etc. Best part is it is small and has a modified garrett flange. So it will be easy to modify to fit a manifold with a standard garrett flange. Its a water cooled piece as well. $50

You can have your choice from the 2 mitsu 14b's I have. Just shoot me a offer. Also have a header that probably can be made to fit your car (as in cut off flange that goes to head and replace with a flange that will fit your head) - balactm - 04-25-2008 Gs dewd Wrote:I have the perfect turbo for you. Also have a header that probably can be made to fit your car (as in cut off flange that goes to head and replace with a flange that will fit your head) does the 14b have a low end power like the t25? i'm trying to cut down on turbo lag...and is the header for a 4age corolla? pictures? - CaptainHenreh - 04-25-2008 14b is I'd say measurably larger than a T25. It's certainly (in my opinion) an all around better turbo. - balactm - 04-25-2008 the 14b may be better. but, without being able to see the actual i won't be able to tell whether or not it will fit onto a turbo manifold for my car. i'm already using a manifold from a corolla, and that's pushing it. the only manifold's for my car fit the garrett turbos'. i don't know if the mitsubishi turbos will fit. unless anyone knows that mitsubishi turbos will fit the same flange on the manifold, or if there is a simple mod to get it to fix, then i'm probably gonna stick with garrett. i like the idea of the t25 because it spools faster but at the same time the t3 will pull harder. so i'm not sure at this point. someone want to talk me into a turbo here? persuade me a little maybe? - Gs dewd - 04-26-2008 The 14b uses the same flange as the t25 mitsu. The 14b is a bigger turbo but when it was on my car there was like no lag with it, but there is also next to no lag with the 16g I am running now. You can get flange adapters on the net or go to a machine shop and they can make you one for cheap. The 14b will hold you for a while. I don't have any pics but if your local to h'burg I can show you the turbo and the manifold in person so you can compare for youself. I my opinion a t3 will be to big and you will have some good lag. With comparing the t3 and t25 the 14b would fall in the middle, the sweet spot you'll have lowend power with high end pull. - balactm - 04-26-2008 Gs dewd Wrote:The 14b uses the same flange as the t25 mitsu. I'm actually leaving to go back home for two weeks but i'll be back the 9th/10th for maymester. so, i'll definitely hit you up then. i'm going to hopefully have the engine with me so i can work on it here. and then i can see if the manifold will fit. - D_Eclipse9916 - 04-26-2008 Arent the 4age 1.6 liter? I may be wrong, but a 14b does lag. Unfortunately a garrett flange fits NEITHER the T25 or the 14bs that come on a dsm. All are mitsubishi flanged. However, you may be able to pick up a t25 or t28 from a sylvia, I beleive those have garrett flanges. How much psi are you looking to push? If around 6-7 lbs I would say t25. If 11-14 I Would say the 14b, but it doesnt matter, because niether are garrett-flanged. Although a mitsu flange would be easy to adapt. - Gs dewd - 04-27-2008 Thats why I posted that I have a header that the flange can be cut off and a new head flange welded on so it will fit. And on my car the 14b didn't lag at all. Hell the 16g doesn't lag hardley at all on my car. But if I don't sell the car a gt35r is going on it then I may see some lag. lol - balactm - 04-27-2008 D_Eclipse9916 Wrote:Arent the 4age 1.6 liter? I may be wrong, but a 14b does lag. yeah it's a 1.6. and i'm looking to run 6-7 initially. then when i get enough money, i'm gonna put an all new fuel delivery system and then run 10-15 depending on autocross/normal driving |
