looks awesome Goodspeed. what were your camera settings for the pictures you took at 6? they have a great feeling of motion.

Great shots! You've got good composition... now it's time to get you a DSLR :-D

- Goodspeed - 03-31-2008

Scotty and Jake, thanks for the compliments Smile Some of those shots may have the shutter speed at 1/160th of a second. My camera isn't really capable of using such features even though they are built in. Using anything faster than the auto setting produces dark, grainy photos. For a majority of them, I just left the camera on auto and did my best to pan and match cars as they sped by with mixed results. I'd love a DSLR someday, one of these days I know I'll have to drop a few grand on good photo/video equipment...someday. I don't and never will believe the camera "makes" the photo, but I'd like something a little more capable to learn with.

Hey, start small and invest in good glass. My D70 + lens and accessories was like $600 used. You can get a new D60 for something like $500 which still isn't pocket change, but it's worth looking into. I'm sure Canon prices are in line with the Nikon stuff, I just don't quite know which models line up with Nikon as far as entry level vs. pro.

A Canon Digital Rebel XT or XTi would be a great starter camera, and available for a pretty good deal-- around 400-600 depending on how used etc. Plus Canon>Nikon.
