whats up guys im Curtis got accepted into JMU next year. Im definitely interested in joining next year to hang out with some people who love cars. I bought my mustang a couple months ago and have been modding it. Its decent in a straight line, but thats about it  What kind of stuff do you guys do as a club? I saw that theres a lot of autocross. Anything else?

Ill probably be majoring in bio and will, if everything goes okay, become a dentist (yeah i know lol...) Anyways just introducing myself. If anyone else owns a mustang on here, check out this.

Hey welcome! I'm over on MF too, but I usually don't venture outside of the Street/Strip section. I'm RL friends with nanaki and Grn_N_Gry50H and I'm meeting up with BicketyBam in April at Lake Norman to hang out and hopefully get a ride in a C6 Z06 Tongue

We're a good community here and congrats on getting into JMU! You're going to love it my friend!

Quoted so DJ can't edit it in the morning.

Welcome to the club man - I live in Frederick MD if you are interested in doing something (Summit point is real close!)

welcome man... the people involved in MM that are at JMU are cool. Ignore most of the BS on this forum... its mainly alumni who have nothing better to do.

It will look a little different in another 3-4 weeks. Im getting smoked headlights, repainting bumper (old owner lived on stone driveway..lol), and getting the larger GT hoodscoop. Im also throwing in a mgw sts. That will be about all the performance mods Im going to do because I need a dd that gets decent gas mileage. They only made about 5000 gold mustangs so you wont see very many. I think that was probably a smart business move on fords part. The color grows on you after a while though. Im just waiting on another paycheck before Ill have the money to order everything. Glad to see everyone here is down to earth.

- Madden - 03-22-2008

Hey man, welcome!
There are a couple mustangers here at JMU

- Sijray21 - 03-22-2008

Welcome,

definitely search around the forums and ignore the bickering between people - we're all friends here Smile

enjoy the events, come out to the auto-x's and hpde/race events to see what MM is all about!

Wait till you check out the MM parties!! I can't speak for how they are now, but they used to be legendary!!!

- Steve85 - 03-22-2008

Congrats getting into JMU!

If I could do it again...get involved with the flagger program to learn and earn free hpde days. I wish I had a club like this when I was your age to guide me into it early. Don't be intimidated by the thought of going to a "race track"... you do not need any special equipment (well, a helmet) or performance stuff to go out there and have fun.

"decent in a straight line.." Do you go to Mason-Dixon in Boonsboro?
I try to get there a few times a year.

- Goodspeed - 03-22-2008

Welcome to the club and to the forums! Look out for us next semester at student org night and check the forums for meeting dates and times etc. We always give an introductory rundown on who we are and what we do. In the meantime check out the videos in my signature to see some of our events and do an autocross!

- Jake - 03-22-2008

Welcome to MM! I'm another freshman who joined back in the fall and I've had a blast. Check out the Events forum for some pictures - we went karting today and that's something that is hopefully happening every semester, I think.

So yeah, it's a good time. People are really laid back and always willing to help fix or install things. Keep posting and checking things out, and we'll see you in the fall Smile

cars - rezarxt - 03-23-2008

Freshman cant have cars on campus correct? What do you guys do with yours? Is there anyway to get around this or any safe places to park off campus?

I know you dont really need them, but I dont know if I could spend months at a time without it. :?

- Goodspeed - 03-23-2008

If you have an upperclassman friend, you may be able to regularly commandeer a visitor spot in a nice area. I've heard of other freshmen parking their cars at Wal Mart and just making the walk or taking the bus to it when they want it. I also think one of our members parks his car behind a hotel in town. Or you could wait a year, get pretty-much kicked off campus due to housing restraints, and park your car at your apartment complex like me and other upperclassmen Smile

I died freshman year when I didn't have a car to work on.
I just got addicted to buying parts and when I finaly got home I had a garage full boxes and parts. I know a kid that leaves his car at wal mart. I gues you could do that

- rezarxt - 03-23-2008

Not a bad idea but I dont know how I feel about leaving my baby in a wal mart parking lot for days at a time. I dont know what the people are like in harrisonburg but in hagerstown I wouldnt trust it at walmart for 30 minutes lol

What are the apartments/town houses like outside of campus and what are the price ranges? Im going to need a place to stay sophmore year and on and Im trying to start saving up some money over the summer to help me out. My mom has a small house an hour away from JMU that i can stay at but Im not sure how id feel about that long of a commute. I guess Ill give commuting a try. Im just looking to keep my options open. any advice coming from someone who knows nothing about the area?

- ScottyB - 03-23-2008

welcome and enjoy the club. there are tons of ways to get involved in car stuff just ask the forums or at meetings.
