how you know you're a car guy - ScottyB - 07-19-2004 what are some funny things you guys notice about yourselves that reminds you how much you are a car enthusiast and/or love your car? for me, sometimes i... - find myself loading my groceries into the right rear corner of the trunk to "optimize" weight distribution for the 500 yard drive home - feel dirty after putting the lowest octane into my car when im low on cash - feel clean after changing the oil in my car despite being covered in oil and road grit - break out in a sweat just watching people open their doors next to my car - will actually break out in a sweat and tolerate intense swamp ass just to avoid using the A/C and taking away more power from my already weak engine - will floor it under low bridges or in tunnels just to hear the engine better - take it personally when people don't get out of the passing lane if they aren't passing or turning left - park under street lights so i feel more secure about my car, and deep down i think my car might feel better too - view speed bumps as being in the same annoyance category as migraine headaches - Ryan T - 07-19-2004 -I always park next to the sign at work. Half in teh spot, half over the line towards the sign. -never let shit pile up in the car, I always keep stuff out of the back/front seats. -get pissed off when I see people obviously abusing their cars. -keep the chrome clean, always a must. - KPWSerpiente - 07-19-2004 - Shift right after the turbo spools, or even build up a little extra boost just to hear the bov around town - Spool to a full 20 psi under bridges, in tunnels, in parking garages (yes I know, call me a ricer) just to hear the bov echo - When leaving the track, fill up on 118 leaded gas just so I can drive around at 25 psi with an aggressive timing curve - Installed my turbo/manifold/o2 housing and exhaust (thanks again Chris and Ian) during december/january when there was snow still on the ground melting - Obviously doing the oil and oil filter changes myself every 2k miles with the proper equipment - Love to vaccum and will go through the car every week and remove things that don't need to be in it. Only things that need to be in it are Cds/tools etc, we're car guys. we know the things that distinguish us from people who just drive them. -T - Mike - 07-19-2004 -I keep the car empty... Weight is my pile's biggest enemy. -I leave the burnt cabon on my back bumper just because it looks fast. -I dislike the fact I have major brake dust on my front wheels and the rears are clean (drums). It makes me feel like a ricer. -I love when my gas tank is near empty, the car really zooms. - Sijray21 - 07-19-2004 -always looking in the reflection of a glass building or off another car because i never get see myself driving my own car (always making sure the coast is clear ahead of me  ) -when you see a hot ass car, THEN you realize that there are hot women inside -you start to speak in terms that 'regular' people don't understand -find a small ding on the car and get infuriated despite the cracked bumper and 4ft long key mark already on the car -realize that after a 2 hour long drive that the radio was off because you just wanted to listen to the engine and i'm notorious for... -when you associate people by their car rather than their name - Dave - 07-19-2004 theguywiththeSi Wrote:and i'm notorious for...oh so true -your idea of fun is to buy a busted pile and build it (restoration or make faster), knowing that it is highly unlikely that you will recoop the money you invest it -you cringe when you see people driving with large animals loose in thier nice cars - .RJ - 07-19-2004 Dave Wrote:-you cringe when you see people driving with large animals loose in thier nice cars Define large? I put my dog in my R and still would if the monkeybarz werent there. - JackoliciousLegs - 07-19-2004 -you leave "hatemail" notes on peoples cars that park too close to you... and you leave "death threats" on the cars that do ding you. -park far away from the store... even in an empty parking lot. -look at people driving ferraris like they don't know what they're driving. -get mad at the people on MTV cribs for driving sports cars just to be stunnaz... not because they can afford them, just because they don't know what to do with them. - Mike - 07-19-2004 JackoliciousLegs Wrote:-get mad at the people on MTV cribs for driving sports cars just to be stunnaz... not because they can afford them, just because they don't know what to do with them. Kind of like those people who buy enthusiast cars and are afraid to autocross them. - JackoliciousLegs - 07-19-2004 MichaelJComputer Wrote:low blow. I autoXed mine dick. I'd just prefer to not have to suck mommie's tit to live with her after i graduate. PS... I'll be autoXing my car again, after I get my damn A/F issues worked out and I get my wastegate ported. Thanks. Not all of us can afford 5Gs for a car + school + insurance. - .RJ - 07-19-2004 JackoliciousLegs Wrote:low blow. I autoXed mine dick. I'd just prefer to not have to suck mommie's tit to live with her after i graduate. Whats wrong with living 2 miles from work, with dinner there a few times a week, and a garage to keep all your shit in? Why do you think I'm still living at home? I still pay rent, although I'm getting off cheaper than if I rented elsewhere. Quote: I'm shooting to get on track after I graduate.... and still have enough money not to live at home... mike. Its all about priorities. I worked enough (usually 2, sometimes 3 jobs) during the summer and winter, as well as worker credits from flagging, to fund autox/track stuff while I was in school. There's no reason it cant be done if you're motivated to do it. If your priority is to be on your girlfriend's leash, then it wont happen. Quote:Not all of us can afford 5Gs for a car + school + insurance. Again, priorities. Example: Dave. - JackoliciousLegs - 07-19-2004 There are other reasons I can't/won't live at home post-graduation. I'll get on track as soon as I can. - .RJ - 07-19-2004 JackoliciousLegs Wrote:There are other reasons I can't/won't live at home post-graduation. Thats fine, but dont act like its a bad situation for everyone. - JackoliciousLegs - 07-19-2004 .RJ Wrote:I'm not.. mike's comment really pissed me off though. - G.Irish - 07-19-2004 Well if you like you can make fun of RJ wussing out on a racecar... - .RJ - 07-19-2004 Which one?

[cough]look at .RJ's sig[/cough] - navin - 07-19-2004 i must not be a car guy... - let a friend spraypaint my hood while intoxicate - laughed when kids threw some peddles and chit at my car - leave windows down and doors unlocked alot - love/hate relationship, more HATE..
- jmualfaracer - 07-19-2004 awesome thread !!!! -when your in somebody else's car (paasenger seat), and your paying more attention to the road/drive than the driver. -somebody else driving your car (whether your with them or not) is like chinese torture. -assessing someones automotive choice by immediately deciding what kind of a car you would have spent the money on. -ditching important events (gf 1 year anniversary) to test drive your buddys new ride. -borrowing your dads car to look like a potential customer when visiting car dealerships. My personal favorite: -your always that one freshmen in ISAT 142, to inform the professor that the physics decelleration problem in the homework is innacurate because it doesnt include brake effeciency, weather conditions, etc... |
