Fuel cells - Dave - 03-12-2008

Who's had one or worked with one? I don't really know much about them and I'm just interested in learning.
I feel like its nothing more than a gas tank, but there has to be a little more to it. I've searched, but all that comes up is crap about alternative fuel cells running on air n stuff :-).

I'd like to learn, or find a good reference, an overview of the different parts involved, things to look for when shopping for one, how to peice one together, etc. Seems like every FFR Cobra has one and I've always wondered what was going on there (other than it being in the rules)...
Discuss and educate me.

There's really not much to them, buy one and drop it in. Put in your fuel pump and run the lines. The most fabrication involved is building a 'cage' or support around it. Fuel cells are by design not intended to be worked on. You just plop down your 1-2 grand every 5 years or so. Some have removable bladders you can change out but I'd rather have one with foam insides to reduce sloshing.
