Champ Car and IRL - Steve85 - 02-27-2008 Apparantly hell hath frozen over... It will be interesting to see what kind of mix of oval and road course ends up on the schedule. http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5gpzZ_zSZI5jhIWh89Ev3BOZs7l0QD8V1L03O0 - G.Irish - 02-27-2008 Finally this ridiculous war is over, but at this point I can't say that I care much. Some will say IRL and Tony George have won, but I say both sides have lost, one side just lost more. Actually, scratch that. NASCAR won this war. With open-wheeled racing in a silly civil war NASCAR has been the benefactor. They have a long ways to go towards rebuilding open-wheeled racing in the United States. It will probably be awhile before I care enough to follow it again. - ScottyB - 02-27-2008 needs less ovals on the schedule and i never doubt Tony George's ability to suck. - Hunter - 02-27-2008 I'm with Gerald on this one, this is something that should have been resolved years ago and has absolutely destroyed American open wheel racing. The Indy 500 used to be the biggest event in America and possibly the world, and now even the Indianapolis motor speedway makes most of its money from NASCAR. At this point I think they have to run a significant number of road courses just to offer something different than NASCAR, otherwise I think the average consumer (non-die-hard racing enthusiast) will just look at IRL and say "It's just a slight faster and different looking NASCAR where theres less bumping and crashes, and we don't know anyone outside of Danica Patrick... and she never wins." - CaptainHenreh - 02-27-2008 Does this mean I'll be able to get a champ car on the cheap? - Mike - 02-27-2008 CaptainHenreh Wrote:Does this mean I'll be able to get a champ car on the cheap? booooost! on a button! so coool! |
