Cop who chased motorcyclist indicted - G.Irish - 02-14-2008

Remember when that cop in Maryland initiated a high speed chase of a motorcycle that ended in a fatal car pileup? Yeah, he's being indicted for manslaughter.

A bit surprising to me, I thought maybe the guy would lose his job at the most. I doubt he'll get convicted, it seemed more like negligence than actual manslaughter.

I'm kind of surprised the motorcyclist escaped any charges too. I don't think he should be charged with manslaughter or anything since he wasn't the one who hit the other car and caused the pileup but he should have at least gotten in trouble for the 120+ mph speeding charge.

saw that on the news last night... crazy shit. i didn't read the link you posted (maybe it says this), but apparently the guy was very much known as a vigilante cop... a guy who didn't play by the rules.

the biker got no charge at all? that's insane.

That is insane. And he fled the scene of the pileup too?

- Ginger - 02-14-2008

Yeah, the no-biker-charge kinda sets a bad precedent.

- Apoc - 02-14-2008

I'm all for the police being responsible for their actions but I gotta think the motorcyclist is just as responsible.

for the people dying? indirectly, yes. should he face charges for it? no.

I'd say so!
1) If you are speeding, lead the cop on a chase, because he's not supposed to chase you.
2) If he DOES chase you anyway, drive insanely and don't stop until he causes an accident! Drive off, you won!

right, i agree with that. he should not face charges for the deaths of those people. he should be charged just as i would if i were to run from the cops and nobody gets hurt. i would expect reckless endagerment as well.

Did they ever find the motorcycle rider? From what I understood they didnÔÇÖt.

You can get charged with felony evasion.... and something like "death while in the commission of a felony."

the news lead me to believe they had.

- navin - 02-14-2008

Wow, thats really suprising the motorcycle guy seemed to get off.

Friend of mine got a month in jail for what was felony evasion, but got dropped down to a misdeameanor when he ran from the cops on his bike.

Yes he's a donkey.

edit : plus 100 hours community service and fines out the ass.

- CaptainHenreh - 02-14-2008

A friend of mine got felony evasion & I think resisting arrest, but I think he got it down to some misdemeanor when he pleaded his case or something.

- mrbaggio - 02-14-2008

Anyone that runs from the cops should be shot.

- WRXtranceformed - 02-14-2008

I successfully ran from the cops on two occasions as a stupid youth! But I had an old pickup truck and back-country roads on my side ha ha Tongue

Oh boy I'll probably get in trouble for that!

- G.Irish - 02-14-2008

Justin is going to shoot you, you'd better run boy.

- WRXtranceformed - 02-14-2008
