Windshield scratch fix - HAULN-SS - 01-14-2008 Hey, so I fucked up this morning and scratched my windshield while getting the ice off of it. Anyone have a scratch repair kit I can borrow? Even better if you've used it and know how to do it. It's not deep - I can't catch the scratches iwth my fingernail - its just annoying and hopefully easily fixed? - white_2kgt - 01-14-2008 WTF were you using to scrape ice? a 2x4 with nails hammered in it? damn - HAULN-SS - 01-14-2008 A non-plastic scraper...didn't work out so well. - jongp3 - 01-15-2008 does that stuff work on scratches caused by wiper blades? some idiot who own my car before me must have never changed the blades and i have lines all across the windshield - HAULN-SS - 01-15-2008 The kit I saw online said it works for scratches that you can't feel iwth your fingernail - white_2kgt - 01-15-2008 HAULN-SS Wrote:The kit I saw online said it works for scratches that you can't feel iwth your fingernail If it's just a fine surface scratch no kits going to fix it. I had one on my mustang and I took it to a repair shop and they said they could try but w/o a deeper scratch/chip it probably wouldn't do anything. So, pickup a rock and make a bigger 'scratch', just make sure you have glass breakage on your insurance first
- HAULN-SS - 01-15-2008 To tell you the truth, it almost seems like the windshield is coated with something, and that's what scratched... And yeah, I already have a small chip too. I was thinking about taking a chisel to that to widen it a bit and calling insurance, heh. - Jeff - 01-15-2008 I got some of their plastic polish...works like magic. http://www.janvil.com/glass_scratch.htm |
