Into the Wild - John - 01-06-2008 I'm sure many of you have read the book in the past by Jon Krakauer - also wrote Into Thin Air. Well, movie came out last summer at select theaters and got rave reviews. Finally found out that they were showing it this week in SD, saw it last night, and positively one of the best films I've seen in ages. I will even admit that towards the end I almost cried. For those that don't know, the story is about a guy who graduated from Woodson HS ~'92 - so it's a NoVA local story. While I never knew the kid, I had friends in HS who did as he lived right across Braddock Rd. from me. DVD is released in February - definitely worth checking out in the theater beforehand if you can. - Ginger - 01-06-2008 But did he have support vehicles? This is the Alaskan film, right? It was interesting covering some of the same ground that he was on when I was up there. - John - 01-06-2008 Yes, film ended in Alaska. - Apoc - 01-06-2008 I've had the book on my To Do list for awhile but haven't gotten around to it yet. For those who are interested in learning more. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0758758/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Into_the_Wild He actually graduated in '86. - John - 01-06-2008 Did he graduate then? Girl was lived across the street from me who was a few years older knew him. They have gone to the same church (since her father was the pastor). Kid grew up off of Pickett and Braddock - not sure why it says Annandale... - Ginger - 01-06-2008 I lived at Soapstone and South Lakes and went to Yorktown
