Verizon DSL? - HAULN-SS - 12-27-2007

Anyone had it before? I didnt think they had it out here, but i put in my phone number, and it says I can get a 3.0Mbps connection. Any idea how reliable that connection would be, and how close it would be to that? I have never had DSL before.

I had 3.0 Verizon DSL in Leesburg and it was light years better than the 3.0 Adelphia cable that was my other option. I actually switched to DSL because my cable was so unreliable and ended up never looking back. I got cable when I moved because it was the only option but I would have preferred DSL because my previous experience was flawless.

I don't remember the transfer rates but I never felt it was slow. In fact, I'm pretty sure my up was at least 2x faster than the measly 384Kbps I have with Comcast now.

i had verizon dsl in mclean and it blew ass

Shocker Evan has a differing experience/opinion than I.

I have Verizon DSL now - its not slow (its not fast either) but the modem they give you blows cock (I got the Westell Versalink D90-327W15-06 - ask for something else if you get their shit) and their customer service is the worst. Steer clear if at all possible.

Yeah, thats the problem. My other options are this wireless card (too much latency to play games) and sattelite...same problem. I was looking for something that'd at least be fast enough with low enough latency I could play First Person shooters without blowing ass.

Anyway, so If I get this, anyone want to buy my broadband card with or without contract? It seems to work good for surfing, just too much latency for gaming. I am not sure what speeds it gets in the city, but out in WV it gets about 540Kbps download speed (.5Mbps)

I used to play Halo 2 on DSL without any latency issues.

You're not going to win any speed rewards for downloading megaporn but it's good enough for gaming.... at least mine was.

Cool, I'm sold then. I'll call them today and see about getting it set up. I think they said I could do 30 days trial period anyway.

The only thing that may trip you up is your distance from the CO. If you're pretty far from it you may get slower speeds than promised but it shouldn't effect your latency that much.

The good news about being wired for DSL is you'll eventually get wired for FiOS.
