ok..so high profile, badass pitchers did it, and high profile, badass hitters did it. It all amounts to being even steven. This is exactly what I figured would happen, and exactly why people need to quit giving shit to people like barry bonds. They're doping, and killing the ball, and the pitchers they are facing are doping, so what difference does it make?

The biggest question isn't "who cares?" it's "Why the fuck does congress care?"...don't they have a war to argue over, or something?

Why is the government wasting money on determining whether or not sports players use steroids? What has this accomplished?

IIRC the whole thing started around the same time Bush was taking heat over the leaked CIA operative scandal.

Canseco did blow the whistle with his book but CNN is giving the credit to two reporters from San Fran that wrote a book on Bonds.

Meh, I'm feeling in conspiracy loving / Bush bashing mood today :wink: .

Still doesn't change the fact that Congress could be spending the same time / our tax dollars:
-Working on a better energy policy to help ease gas prices
-Developing a real exit strategy for Iraq
-Fixing the broken social security system

Or just give me a tax break. Or a BJ. Just don't waste time determining whether ball players are on the juice.

well, it is illegal for them to use drugs for one. if a certain distributor is the source for multi-millions of dollars worth of drugs, what are the chances that such a person or business is reporting their income or selling drugs to others? even more money is at stake due to endorsements, advertising and all the media coverage for the various home run chases. MLB is a multibillion dollar business.

and on a social level, little kids look up to these athletes. hypothetically speaking, kids might look at these ball players and see what it takes to play in the majors, and lets say only like 2% of those kids start taking steroids at a younger age, thats still like what a million kids between the ages of 12-17 just in the US?

i dont know what the demographic breakdown is, but its still gonna be a lot of people influenced by this. there are probably a million more reasons why this is significant
