Project CB400 Four, Round 2 - .RJ - 10-30-2007 Picked it up tonight, $200. I think the only work I'm going to do is clean it up and sell it on ebay, I'm not even going to bother getting it running I dont think, but no reason it wouldnt with a carb rebuild and a new battery. It should fetch $1000-1200 on ebay. The guy I bought it from thought it was a CB750, so I jumped on it and went over there with my truck since I'd love to have a complete parts bike - but it was a 400, so I took it anyways ![]() The good - Gas tank is clean, engine turns over freely, original pipes in good shape, appears to be mostly complete. The bad - head/tail light missing, side covers missing, carbs are a little stuck, front brakes need rebuilding, hasnt run in a year. - Evan - 10-30-2007 :rj: - .RJ - 10-30-2007 F that, I'm going to make a few bucks. - .RJ - 10-30-2007 Hmm... sold to Phil? That was fast At least I can help make it run!
- Kaan - 10-31-2007 i dont know where you find this crap... i'm jealous - Apoc - 10-31-2007 You have a disease. - Ginger - 10-31-2007 You sold it to Phil - BMW Phil? Please tell me you're kidding. - .RJ - 10-31-2007 No foolin! He said Claire wants to ride, so I'll help get it running too
- Ginger - 10-31-2007 Oh cry. Oh god. - .paul - 10-31-2007 fackin awesome, you find some great deals rj - Kaan - 10-31-2007 well its got pods and no head light... nothing you cant handle RJ! - .RJ - 11-12-2007 Phil came by and some progress was made in the past 2 days. Got the bike cleaned up some, blew all the gunk off it and wiped it down and changed the oil. All of the wiring harness issues were fixed, I believe - there were some wires shorting out in the kill switch/starter circuit and I checked all the connections for most of the other things as well, so far so good. The starter switch itself is toast, when the button was pressed it only sent ~8V to the starter relay, but if you jumper the relay directly it turns over real nice. The bike would run breifly with carb cleaner sprayed through the intakes and its got spark. The carbs are nice and clogged up so Phil is going to run them through the parts washer at work and buy some rebuild parts. With a carb rebuild no reason it shouldnt fire right up
- ScottyB - 11-12-2007 you're like a manbikevulture....preying on dying, busted piles, honing in on the scent (c-list) and then diving in for the kill so you can bask in busted glory. - .RJ - 11-12-2007  I'm taking it out to phil's parents place out near luray next weekend, and then its all his I cant wait to see it run again!I the old CB's
- Apoc - 11-12-2007 Rebuild them, take pics with a model and sell them! That would be a neat hobby. - .RJ - 11-12-2007 We need to do a photo shoot with the CB750 when its done
- Apoc - 11-12-2007 It'll nevar be done. - .RJ - 11-12-2007 Burnout on your lawn... - Mike - 11-12-2007 does he have one? - PGK - 11-13-2007 ![]() ![]() shown with a nickel for scale ![]() unstuck! ![]() piston is pitted though :-( needs replacement, or needs to be hard-chromed |
