WRX Timing Belt - What else to do at the same time? - JohnC - 10-14-2007 I'll be changing the timing belt in our WRX soon. The service manual just says "replace timing belt". I remember for the Z, there was a whole list of additional parts to replace if you were doing the timing belt. Do any of the other Subaru guys here have suggestions? If the answer is "just replace the timing belt, because Subarus don't make you hate yourself like Z32s do", then thats wonderful... - WRXtranceformed - 10-14-2007 I never had one long enough to need to change it! Sorry bro! - CaptainHenreh - 10-14-2007 Since you'll have it all off anyway, I'd do all of your acc. belts too (duh) and maybe water pump? :dunno: - Andy - 10-14-2007 When I did the timing belt in the legacy, I replaced the following. T-Belt T-Belt tensioners (I had 4 timing idler/tensioners) Water pump Cam seals crank seal (I pulled the oil pump and replaced the gasket which is a known leakage source) Thermostat which is integrated into the water pump Coolant hoses Acc. Belts *edit* pull the radiator. It makes the job a lot easier. If you haven't changed plugs and wires, now is a good time too since you'll be in there anyways. |
