2.8L at the track - KPWSerpiente - 10-11-2007 ![]() ^Notice the dust all over...I drove through a mile and a half of gravel and unpaved road getting to this track. Perhaps that is why I spun all four out on this launch or the one before it? I won't go into all of the details about why I havn't gone faster than 12 flat in the 1/4 but most (almot all) of it is my driving and some of it is small issues with the car. I also havn't run the race gas map yet. Despite that shit...for the viewing pleasure of all import haters at Midwest Motorplex in Iowa...I smoked a few trailered in domestics (including the Plymouth you see being out launched right here) and every street driven car that showed up before being forced to leave early because of issues with the hydra in my (Lee's) car. -T - WRXtranceformed - 10-11-2007 Nice dude, I'm still so impressed. I can't wait to see how you do on the race map =) The gears are probably starting to hold you back as well. Shifting into 5th in the 1/4 mile FTL. - Andy - 10-11-2007 Jesus. What kind of trap speeds are you running that you have to shift into 5th? - ScottyB - 10-11-2007 f'n A dude. - BLAIR - 10-11-2007 yea.. whats speeds.. that will really let us know what the car can possibly do Re: 2.8L at the track - Goodspeed - 10-11-2007 KPWSerpiente Wrote:at Midwest Motorplex in Iowa...I smoked a few trailered in domestics Are you taking the STi on a nation wide ass-kicking tour? - Beej - 10-11-2007 Hell, I had to shift into 5th in my stock STi in the 1/4 (which is just shy of 100, I think?). The gearing must suck when you're making the kind of power that thing does. - Mike - 10-11-2007 Andy Wrote:Jesus. What kind of trap speeds are you running that you have to shift into 5th? I thought Lee told me 118 the other day? I could be totally wrong. - Feersty - 10-11-2007 Very cool Travis. Glad to see your plan come to fruition. - KPWSerpiente - 10-11-2007 Traps at MIR which is the only 1/4 mile track I've run on were between 116-118. This was at a somewhat lower boost setting (read as below 20psi) and the track temperature during my runs was from 95 to 105 degrees. I want a flat foot shifting set up like I had on the Eclipse and a chance to run problem free at a decent temperature with maybe a little more boost. I dream of 120+mph traps. -T - WRXtranceformed - 10-12-2007 118 is good for mid 11s. I predict high 120s and a dip into the 10s on 110 leaded or C16 with a bunch of practice. Swap out gears 1-4 with PPG straight cuts? 10s all day long on race. |
