Last minute worries about traffic court - Jeff - 09-24-2007 I'm going to traffic court tomorrow for no front license plate. I have it on the car and I am going with photo in hand. Is there anything else besides the photo and ticket to take with me? When they ask me how do I plea...what do I say? I'm not really "not guilty" but I have gotten it fixed. Do I say not guilty then explain? Rex said they likely will not even ask for a plea and just say "did you fix it? Do you have proof?" and that will be the end of it. Thoughts? I'm just nervous now that it is only hours away. - Jeff - 09-24-2007 14 view...no comments? come on guys!!! any words of wisdom!?!? - bassmangrammy - 09-25-2007 I'm not sure... "no contest" would be my guess. No contest might be your best option if you have to plead something, but talk it over with whoever is there for the prosecution. Just tell them what happened, and show them your evidence of the plate currently being on the car. I'm not entirely familiar with VA courts, but the few guys I know who have been popped for this got their tickets dismissed with a similar strategy. - ViPER1313 - 09-25-2007 I sat in Harrisonburg court for a couple hours to get a feel for the reckless ticket - everyone with plate or license tickets got them thrown out if it was fixed. Not sure about the plea though - you weren't innocent, judges hate guilty with explanation (they don't want to hear some BS excuse why the plate wasn't there) so I guess that leaves you with guilty :?: I forget what other people were pleading though - your mileage may vary. Seriously though - its like a $75 fine right ![]() - Kaan - 09-25-2007 Up north you have to plead not guilty... then the judge will automatically ask if you got it fixed... you show the pic, and he tosses it. no contest, guilty with explaination = BAD... dont say these words in traffic court. - Feersty - 09-25-2007 I have never been to court, so all I can say is good luck. - HAULN-SS - 09-25-2007 I'm wtih adam. Just pay it. I haven't had a front plate on my white car for 6 years, and have only been stopped once. This was like 2 years ago and I told him I had just gotten it painted and hadn't had a chance to put it back yet. The paint looked fresh enough he believed me. If i ever do get a ticket though, I'll pay it, and consider that the fee for not screwing up my front bumper with drill holes - Evan - 09-25-2007 interesting, ive never actually gotten pulled over for it, or even when I get pulled over for something else its never been tacked on. now getting a front plate ticket while the car is parked, yeah I get those all the f-ing time. I think the only excuse worth a damn if you get pulled over is that your car didnt come with a bracket for it. - Dave - 09-25-2007 I don't think it really matters what you plead. When you show the judge you've fixed it, he'll probably toss it, though you'll still get to pay court costs. I got pulled over by a Trooper on I-81 solely for this (I was going 65, he gunned it off the side of the road, pulled ahead to check, then pulled me over) and the judge tossed it when I showed I had it on the car. Different trooper in Orange got me for it. He didn't care that it actually was freshly painted and I didn't want to drill holes, so I just paid that ticket out of court b/c I wasn't interested in travelling to court for it. It's not a moving violation, it's not going to hurt you in the long run. - Jeff - 09-25-2007 dismissed...no money out of my pocket. - CaptainHenreh - 09-25-2007 TurboOmni08 Wrote:dismissed...no money out of my pocket. Good. What'd the judge say? "Get it fixed? Yeah? Dismissed, get out of here." - Jeff - 09-25-2007 pretty much - CaptainHenreh - 09-25-2007 TurboOmni08 Wrote:pretty much Did you pee your pants? - Jeff - 09-25-2007 came close - HAULN-SS - 09-25-2007 so..are you, or is Dave the real MM treasurer? - Dave - 09-26-2007 HAULN-SS Wrote:so..are you, or is Dave the real MM treasurer?I'm sorry, but I have to give this a :?: Yeah, it has said Treasurer under my name, b/c it was never changed 3 years ago when I finished my term, but did you even think for 10 seconds before you posted this? - white_2kgt - 09-26-2007 Dave Wrote:...but did you even think for 10 seconds before you posted this?
