Seriously, am I the only one who notices crap like this? I don't know about you, but I played rough sometimes on the playground and drew violent stick figure fights when I was a kid and turned out fine. In fact I still have my favorite drawing of a monster truck running over a school bus somewhere. What the hell is going on? I like to stir the pot every now and then, and I thought I'd depart from the usual political rants. Where is all this 21st century political correctness/acceptance and tolerance for all with any hint of danger or harm stamped out coming from? I think we're seriously damaging our future with this stuff. Please, if you have kids, let them break a leg, play sports, and....be a kid :roll:

I agree, people are getting overly paranoid nowadays, but it certainly is a different age now. Girls getting pregnant at 12-13 is like normal, kids bringing weapons to school... I mean we used to do some crazy shit as kids and I turned out okay, but I guess you can never really tell anymore. That kid sketching that gun could be the next college shooter.

Well, I think its well known that kids like to rebel against authority, and this is only making it worse. I wonder how that kid feels...he drew some sort of laser gun and all of a sudden the school suspends him and makes him feel like a criminal. He'll probably want to get some revenge. Parents and teachers are punishing kids before they even have a chance to screw up <--part of being a kid anyways.

yep, sad state of affairs. more than anything i'd just like to round up the parents that force feed their kids baby einstein, hormone drugs, and a superstar mentality, and push them off a cliff in a flaming boxcar. everything these days seems like its based on how your kid stacks up to the neighbors...freaking insanity. its like they live vicariously through their kids.
i can tell you right now, if i was a kid today and did now what i did in school then, i'd be institutionalized. hell i remember drawing a poster for history class of the revolutionary war, and one of the soldiers was being shot in the head and his head was exploding. i mean this is poster sized. the teacher looked at me kind of weird but nothing happened, i thought i just did a realistic drawing. looking back i almost hold my breath thinking the trouble i'd be in now.

I feel the same way as scotty. When I was in high school it wasn't unusual for some to carry their knives with them in their pockets (I've carried a knife on my person everyday since I was 15). Some even would go hunting before school and have their 30.06 and a dead deer in the back of the truck till school was over. Hell one guy even skinned his deer during lunch. He got fussed at, but didn't really get in that much trouble. If you tried to pull any of that shit today you'd be in jail.

i probably would have been sent to prison, I used to draw up huge tanks running over people and blowing buildings up. Not to mention we used to play tag and dodgeball so rough people were instantly bruised.....
I always fall back on the parents creating their kids into pussies.

Seriously though, in first grade at lunch we had a table where we all brought paper and pencils and tried to draw the coolest battle scene. I'm not so much of a artist so I don't think I ever won, but most of it was pretty graphic.
We also used to play tackle football during our recess and no one really cared. Well, they cared after the nerdy kid (Jacob) broke his arm... Way to ruin it Jacob!!!

Parents used to spank their kids back in the day too. Not that I necessarily subscribe to that kind of thing, but some of the brats that I see in public with their parents deserve to have their ass spanked once in a while.
As cliche as it is, I think television has played a larger role in increasingly aggressive children. What's acceptable for kids to watch today was not acceptable in my household growing up, and movies, adult shows, and even childrens shows are noticeably more violent and disturbing than they used to be.... from what I could remember anyway.

I think its just a matter of parent's leaving it to the school's to parent their children while they go off and pursue their careers. I mean you can't blame them for wanting to succeed, but they are basically leaving their kids behind to provide the best for them, kind of ironic?
So we end up with frustrated parents and schools afraid of violence and litigation, meanwhile kids are growing up aspiring to be the next 50 or P.Hilton. I think this problem is far worse than politics or societal care etc IMO.
