Decisions decisions - HAULN-SS - 08-23-2007

Well, I have a few decisions to make myself. I am looking for a good 12ga trap gun.

Here's the three I'm looking at right now.

Ruger Red Label 12 O/U
28" barrel, 7lbs 13oz

Browning A-5 Light Twelve 12ga (Belgian)
7lbs 13oz, 27" barrel

Winchester SuperX Model-1
I think these usually come iwth a 30" bbl, full choke, but not sure on the weight. This is the one i'd probably rather have, but they are pretty hard to find unless I end up buying off some internet site, and I don't know how i feel about that.

Full choke for traps? What are you some kind of killer king kong shot?

I just got a Benelli Nova Pump, still trying to get use to it. Most of the people that shoot traps here use O/U. I've never shot one so I can't comment on if they are better/worse.

The winchester and browning are autos right? Any reason why you'd want an auto for trap shooting?

- HAULN-SS - 08-23-2007

To give me the extra shot mostly...pheasant aren't exactly easy to hit.

- white_2kgt - 08-23-2007

So are you hunting or shooting traps? In American Trap shooting you only get 1 shot.

- HAULN-SS - 08-23-2007

The actual use will be hunting, not shooting traps.

Remington 11-87 Hands down, bad ass 12ga auto.

hippies don't speak gun, do they?

I'm picking up a Verona SX405 for 299, I'll post pictures of it this evening. Your best bet might wait until the next gun show at Dulles, but the next one isn't until November, which I suspect is too late, unless you want to run to HBurg, as they're having one this weekend. (24, 25, R'Ham fairgrounds):

Of course, on second thought, you know what you should get?

Those camo guns just seem so.... unnecessary.

Do they have legitimate use or are they redneck bling?

It's so the turkey won't see your gun.

I couldnt see whatever picture you posted earlier rex. But yeah, november is too late. Last week of october I am going pheasant hunting in south dakota

It's a Saiga-12... mostly a joke, but people who have them say there are few auto shotguns that are better.

Like I said, this weekend there's a gun show in Harrisonburg, if you're up for the drive.

If you were to ever go spring gobbler hunting you'd almost die laughing at the lengths people go to cover up. I'm talking full camo, face paint, feathers sticking out of places, and the blinds people build, crazy. I had the choice of a camo or brown. I already had a brown gun so I got camo plus it hids chips/scratches much easier lol. The next one will be black.

I want a Benelli, my wife isn't having it. She's afraid I'll get angry one day and kill someone.
