Less than two weeks ago we disclosed Audi's upcoming premium super mini, the Audi A1 and now thanks to Auto, Motor und Sport we can report that the Audi A1 will make its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show in October as a hybrid model. Earlier reports suggested that Audi would release the A1 at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
The A1 prices are expected to start at below 20,000 euros ($27,000) and annual sales targets are set at 80,000 - 100,000 units. Michael Dick, responsible for Technical Development at Audi, insisted that the A1 will be "manlier and sportier" than BMW's MINI, adding that "When a father sits gladly in his daughter's car, then we've got it spot on."

I like it! I kind of wish they'd put a turbodiesel in it instead of making it a hybrid though.

I'd drive that. I'm lazy and don't have time to click the link. Will it be right-wheel drive?
TD would be cool too, but I'll take the gas engine just as quick. I love me some hydrocarbons, so no hybrid for me!

Are they also going to brag how much better than a hyundai it is?

too bad Audi doesnt realize its 1 is competing with BMWs 1 (hard to see, I know) in price and size and at least from these press releases the BMW looks like its going to bring some serious smackdown on Audi's tarted up Golf.

no kidding. i have a feeling the 1 is going to bring the smackdown to alot of cars it has no business bringing the smackdown to :lol:

this is also not the most attractive audi i've seen, to put it lightly. i'll have to see more angles/in person before i can pass a thumbs down though.

Yeah right. They dont' even have the testicular fortitude to make the A3 a quattro, much less this "ME TOOOOOO" A1.
