I think it's amazing you can pick these cars up for 40k now. A used E46 with low mileage seems like a great value at that price. What are you guys n gals thoughts on the E46 M3? What car would you rather have for 40k as a DD?

FYI. this is not in the FS section because I'm not selling it nor promoting it. just drooling over it....

- .RJ - 06-24-2004

I would rather buy an E36 for $15K as a daily driver, an E30 for $10K as a track car, and a Diesel tow rig and trailer with the rest of the money rather than buy that overweight pile.

- Sijray21 - 06-24-2004

i know it's a convertible, but...

This M3 is $12000 and it's a 2001

only has 15K miles on it...

wtf?!?! I'm buying that piece!
j/k it's gotta be a scam.

It has 4 carfax reports on it, but for $12K that's a steal.

- JackoliciousLegs - 06-24-2004

I know, you could resell that for 45k+ easy

- Sijray21 - 06-24-2004

lol, i contacted the seller to ask what was wrong with the car

- Mike - 06-24-2004

For 40k I'd rather have a used M5.

- 83Rabbit - 06-24-2004

hhhmm 40k.... Id rather buy an SRT4 for a DD and then get a used e36 m3

- Mike - 06-24-2004

SRT4? :puke:

- 83Rabbit - 06-24-2004

yes, srt4. Whats wrong with them considering for, what $21k you will beat any other new car in that class/price range? The engine is near bulletproof. They just added a limited slip to the 2004 package.
Yea, i mean, its still a neon. But its a neon that has the most overbuilt engine of any of the 4cyl turbo cars out there, costs 40% less than an evo/sti. Ill take the 40% saved invest it in mopar bits and aftermarket stuff and stomp any stock evo/sti and STILL have a new car under the price range of the competitor.

*edit* oh yea, and it has 4 doors, a large aftermarket support, its not an entirely new platform that is prone to the usual first and second year manufacture recalls.
I mean, it isnt the most 'honda racing' looking car out there, but thats half the fun of it.

- KPWSerpiente - 06-24-2004

Seriously. People do not need to hate on the SRT-4.

Though with 40k I'd purchase an Evo and of course ruin the pesky warranty by dropping the rest into it. That or look for a good used Mrk IV.

I don't hate on the SRT4, I really I don't anyone here does. It's just so ugly and cutesy and a boosted Mopar :-(

- JackoliciousLegs - 06-24-2004

I would rather have a slower car than a neon... slower, like a minivan Smile

Damn, y'all haven't even driven them yet, isn't that a little prejudice.

No, I just don't like dodge... and i hate neons. I don't care how the overpowered fwd car drives. i know it will feel like a neon.

Jack... why dont you become 'an informed voter'? You do realize that the neon has long been a competitor in many of its racing classes, although the older models had relatively short suspension travel, they were very well handling cars, and that holds true for the new ones as well. Go drive one smartie Wink

eh i hate it when people say that a certain car will "beat" any other car of similar price, etc. yeah, it probably beats others' acceleration times, but i dont really care too much for that. i personally dont like the way they're styled, but then again, i drive a car with an equally rediculous wing and bigger scoop.

- ScottyB - 06-24-2004

i think SRT-4s are badass cars, but frankly the phrase "overpowered fwd" just means bad news to me. sure it would be fast, but understeer sucks ass and for that money there are better alternatives for all around performance.

oh yeah, about the E46.....cool car, no doubt. and they are proven to put down nice performance numbers, but the expl0ding engines aren't too nice and they do weigh too much for a rwd mid/small coupe.

- Chris - 06-24-2004

I see the SRT-4 argument took over again...
