I made a mini movie - JackoliciousLegs - 06-04-2007

Sooooo, I've wanted to get into film making for a while. The problem is... I have no video camera. I do, however, have this sweet regular camera. Therefore, I decided to take a stab at doing a stop motion video. I didn't spend a lot of time at all on it and didn't have a script for it, but now the ideas are flowing and I hope that this will be the first of many (and hopefully more exciting) stop motion videos that I'll make.

Enjoy!

man..so much hippy, so little time

pretty neat though

heh that stop motion stuff is so fun, but tedious! I made a short one with hotwheels cars when I was like 6, it took forever.

Cute movie, but I didn't see any poking! Sad

I know... haha!

That was pretty damn cool jack, and very creative. I like the use of hovergirl.

+1

well done

did you really use stop motion when you could have just dropped frames? i suppose that would entail serious editing... would be interesting to compare the production time of each... anyway, cool video.

Well, the idea was that I wanted it to be stop motion through and through. I didn't want to deal with (too much) frame by frame editing.
I toyed with iStopMotion, but that sucks since you don't have granular control over duration of individual frames, so I just used finalcut.
I'm sure there's some way to do stop motion using finalcut or premier with a proper video clip, but doing the timing that I did would be hell.

actually... it's kinda crazy that it took so little time. The next one I do will be much longer and I'm sure it'll be more time consuming since I'm going to do some crazy effects :-) This one took maybe two hours to shoot even without a script and no experience (so i didn't know what to shoot really). Then it took around two hours to put together. That was just doing some timing things, audio editing, and going through the images.

I can't wait to do my next one.
