I was under the impression that the new skyline was basically a G35, so when I saw this I made the same assumption that jack did....im guessing that it sucks cause it is the GT and not the GT-R. We can only hope the new GT-R is significantly better than an AWD G35.

Oh we all would love to see it, but I think the states is going to be stuck with getting the AWD G35...

That's only the GT, the GT-R should be out later. That's been the skyline for a while now. I like the G35 coupe.

Yep Carlos Ghosn has stated that the new GT-R will not debut until 2006 or 2007 because they want it to be a world class supercar and right now they do not have the development resources available to do that. I believe they said their performance target is the Porsche 911 but I think the 998 will be out by then so who knows what we'll see with the next Skyline. Here are some pics of a concept Skyline Nissan built a year or two ago though:

Shouldn't be that hard of a target to hit really, except that the Skylines typically are very heavy. The 911's are no featherweights either but as supercars go they aren't that heavy. If Nissan goes with a larger displacement twin turbo setup they should at least be in the performance ballpark.
