Careers at DaimlerChrysler - Feersty - 03-27-2007 Please forward this to the Madison Motorsports members. To any car people interested in a sweet job after graduation: Evan Kays Wrote:I just finished up at JMU in May[2006]. I had a pretty lame job for the first six months out of school and then a JMU professor I was in contact with hooked me up with DaimlerChrysler. I started with them two weeks ago and our HR guy asked me if I knew car people at JMU looking for a job after graduation. I told him no, but that I would keep an eye out. If anyone is interested please shoot me an email. I feel like I really lucked out finding out with this job and I'd like to hook up a couple JMU kids if possible. Here's a little bit about the job... I can give you his contact info, just PM me. This seems like a great opportunity for those graduating in May. - G.Irish - 03-27-2007 Dude that is a badass opportunity. Even if you're not a big Mopar person getting your foot in the door in the industry is huge. Get on it boyeeez. Great hookup Rob  - ScottyB - 03-27-2007 wow that's pretty badass! - Nick325is - 03-27-2007 PM being sent to Rob as we speak. -Nick - D_Eclipse9916 - 03-27-2007 I actually went to the career fair to talk to the daimler chrysler guys and what major and specifics they were looking for. Although I am not graduating yet I would love to get my foot in the door. Do you know if they are looking for interships? I of course dont need salary and benefits, just some pay and a foot in the door. - KPWSerpiente - 03-27-2007 Are you kidding Feerst? Chrysler? Those turds that cofounded Diamond Star Motors? I wouldn't rock one of those pieces of crap on track let alone work for them. -T - D_Eclipse9916 - 03-27-2007 I would be sayng stuff if he said anything about being on track, but this about a job oppurtunity so I dont know why your attacking him here, and not another thread lol. - KPWSerpiente - 03-27-2007 This isn't an attack. If you can't trust those guys to make a decent car you deff can't work for them. Right Feerst? Ford4Life! -T PS: This shit is too good to be true. I never bash Feerst (not even when he goes off half cocked against DSMs) and he never starts a super useful thread. Today we both did things a little different and if the rest of MM fails to see this...well that is just too bad. - Andy - 03-27-2007 KPWSerpiente Wrote:This isn't an attack. What's changed in your situation? - BLAIR - 03-27-2007 I contacted him - BLAIR - 03-28-2007 Resume sent in. Hopefully it goes well - JustinG - 03-28-2007 god damnit why am i gonna be here another year. - Maengelito - 03-28-2007 KPWSerpiente Wrote:PS: This shit is too good to be true. He's a complete retard and a drunk so who knows... - WRXtranceformed - 03-28-2007 It sounds like a decent opportunity to get into that industry, but why is the kid pushing it so hard? Maybe he's getting kickbacks from DC for bringing in new recruits? I mean I like my job and all and I encourage people to consider the industry but I'm not sweating ppls nuts over it. And I do get a bonus from my company if I refer someone who becomes an employee. Btw 40-60k is a huge pay range heh. - HAULN-SS - 03-28-2007 + a car. That's like getting an extra 4 - 5 grand a year - BLAIR - 03-28-2007 I look at it more as someone who is excited and happy about a great job and wants to share the wealth. He did say its only been 2 weeks so who knows what the future may bring. I have my resume all written up. This job appeals to me very much so  - .RJ - 03-28-2007 Getting into the auto industry sounds pretty cool, and there can be some rewarding jobs, but make sure you know what you're getting yourself into before you sign up... as an engineer you can get stuck designing door handles, or even as a test engineer you can be stuck doing reliability testing in death valley in the summertime in a ford focus. I was offered a job as a service writer for a BMW dealer when I got out of school, and while the pay and dealership was good the hours were rediculous - close to 70 hrs/week was the usual schedule and I just didnt want to get into something that hectic. My dad has been a master tech for.. well.. forever and has been at the same dealership for 15+ years - its tough work. - Sijray21 - 03-28-2007 couldn't hurt to check it out though just keep your preferences in mind and don't be completely blinded by the opportunity to work in the automotive industry. pay attention to monetary compensation, benefits, growth, location(s), travel, hours, and the actual work that you'll be doing - Jeff - 03-28-2007 DJ, the guy at the internship fair said no internships I'm gonna look into doing something like this when I graduate. I would rather do this for a few years then go strait into being stuck in Woodstock for the rest of my life.
