WOW Juan Pablo..... - JustinG - 03-04-2007

Although i do disagree with how he got into first place, came from 19th with 16 laps to go and win in Mexico City. If you guys didnt see this race it was a pretty good one. Montoya dominated the race the entire time. Also notably Boris Said, former NASA or SCCA driver i dont remember.... came in 3rd i believe.

Good Race.

- NTIman - 03-04-2007

I think it was a great win, and he definately derserved it. As for the contact...oh well. Scott Pruett had a 5th place car by the end of the race anyway.

Glad to see Montoya win though.

- Maengelito - 03-04-2007

i think said was a scca driver and also drove world challenge or grand am, i cant remember. go said heads!

- white_2kgt - 03-04-2007

I think boris has driven in just about everything except F1.

- NTIman - 03-04-2007

From what i've heard, Chad is right. I believe he's done NASCAR, SCCA, Grand Am, Some rally stuff, etc. Pretty much everything with 4 wheels and can be raced.

- JustinG - 03-04-2007

wow didnt know he had done all of that, but cool to know, im def rooting for said and montoya this year though

- G.Irish - 03-05-2007

Man that was a bullshit move by Montoya. On Wind Tunnel last night there were actually people calling in saying he had the corner. I mean damn, he hit Pruett in the rear quarter panel for crying out loud.

In response to some of the ignorant pro JPM calls one of Wind Tunnel's guests said, 'Speed needs to have a new show to teach you people out there how to watch a race.'

I don't have anything against JPM but there was no need to stick his nose in there, especially from so far back. And on top of that it was his teammate. I guess he pulled the first 'Pedrosa' of the year

I missed the race, I was watching my recording of GrandAm in met-e-ko, but I've heard 2 sides to this. I think a replay is on Wed Night so I'm going to tape it and skip to the end to see this.

Here's a video with a few angles and slo-mo replay: http://youtube.com/watch?v=8EHEem7_LkI

rookie mistake... both guys were kinda at fault as pruett didn't leave him any room, but montoya needs to learn this isn't f1 and you can't just dive under braking.

- Maengelito - 03-05-2007

it looks like pruett saw montoya coming on the inside and wanted to close the door even though he should've left room. as soon as montoya saw that happening, you can see he locked up the brakes. at the same time, from the incar cam on montoya, it looked like he just tried to dive bomb him without any regard for pruett.

When the guy isnt even at your bumper at turn in, you dont need to leave room.

fuck a bumper, rule is door!

Well, NASA rules..... nascar's only rule is "entertain the fans"

I wonder if JPM got some sort of special top secret payola engine package from nascar to win the Mexico round.

I dunno, I personally don't like either of those drivers, SOOO, JPM had committed to his line, it looked like Scott cut down on him pretty quick like he was going to try and block. I'm still going to tape the race on Thursday and go back to see the line scott was taking through 1 earlier in the day. Since they were teammates JPM should have waited, other than that, he did nothing wrong.

- G.Irish - 03-05-2007

Come on, JPM wasn't even halfway alongside Pruett at turn in, how could it be anything but Juan's fault? JPM committed to a low-percentage pass and couldn't back out in time to not end up hitting Pruett. Maybe he thought Pruett was just drive on the outside of the turn to let him by but either way it was a bad pass.

- G.Irish - 03-05-2007

Here's a great quote about JPM from rr-ax:

MaddMatt Wrote:My in-laws are semi-NASCAR fans. They asked me about this Montoya dude because they knew I watched F1. I told them "Juan will do well because he is asshole enough to wreck you for a win. These other guys (Said, Pruett, Fellows, etc) won't."

- NTIman - 03-05-2007

It was definately JPM's fault. He should have waited, and probably could have passed hime cleanly whenever he wanted. But Pruett and the other guy's who don't run a full schedule have to realize that if they don't want to get wrecked for a win, they shouldn't drive in a NASCAR race.

NASCAR drivers do tend to be dirty drivers, most of the time they don't mean to be, but they get huge heads, and act like retarded rednecks behind the wheel of a race car. It's pretty stupid to wreck your teammate when he's leading. But its also kind of stupid to sit there and know that your teammate is waiting to pounce, and does it where he has passed everyone, when you are racing for the fun of it, rather than racing to win a title.

Is JPM running a full busch schedule this year too?

- Feersty - 03-05-2007

Are they allowed to go four wheels off track for 100 or so yards and thus completely missing a corner? Or is it allowed when there is a car perpendicular to racing traffic.
