Brake Pads. - NTIman - 03-03-2007 I'm looking into getting new pads and rotors for my Focus. Obviously, I'm not going to spend a lot for rotors. I don't need a massive amount of braking force, but I would like to have better braking performance. What do you guys suggest? Is it a matter of opinion, and am I going to have to just try out several manufacturer's products to find what works best for me? - Chris - 03-03-2007 I like my axxis ultimates for street/autox duty on the honda. They aren't too expensive either. Call up carbotech and ask for Matt- say you're in MM. 877-899-5024 - Andy - 03-03-2007 Chris Wrote:I like my axxis ultimates for street/autox duty on the honda. Check out all the ricer spots like Nopi for deals on those things. Ebay is also another good spot for Ultimates. They're good for autox/dd except that they dust like hell. - Feersty - 03-03-2007 I have had powerslot rotors and Hawk HPS pads on since July 06. Its a great setup, and little to no brake dust, which the SVT pads were infamous for. I can sell you my old SVT rotors and pads if you think you can do something with them. - white_2kgt - 03-03-2007 Chris Wrote:I like my axxis ultimates for street/autox duty on the honda. Yeah I got my ultimates cheaper at Bap Geon through John Felton, forgot about that. - ScottyB - 03-03-2007 i love my ferodo DS2500's. they dust a little but it's not bad at all, and they are silent. they perform easily as well as my old hawk HP+'s did, and probably better if i had the guts to push them more. i don't know if they make them for your car though...and they're priced above stuff like ultimates. - Dave - 03-04-2007 i've become a total carbotech whore, personally. I'm currently using them on every car I have. I liked my Hawk HP+ pads when I got them on the supra, but they dust a lot and squeal like bitches. You can phase out the squealing, but when you wash the car I needed to grab a second shop-rag just for the initial cleaning of the wheels. I had axxis ultimates for track pads on the 240 for a while, they were alright but also dusted a bit too, IIRC. Light squealing, but pretty good street pad, when I went to XP8s I really noticed the difference. Linds went from an OEM pad on her Escort to Carbotech Panther+ pads and she loves them. Much better bite, no dust, no squeal, definite improvemen. I also use them for the Supra's street pad and really like them. I highly recommended if you won't see anything more than an autoX or some spirited driving. - Nis01 - 03-04-2007 ScottyB Wrote:i love my ferodo DS2500's.I'll be trying these pads out on the Subie for the next auto-x. I think I've glazed the stockers over so its time to try something new. - Maengelito - 03-04-2007 attn shea: i've got a box of carbotech xp9's for the front and carbotech bobcats for the rear for my STi. i bought them so i could take the suby out on track so they've got one weekend on them but still have a lot of meat left. interested? - Nis01 - 03-04-2007 Maengelito Wrote:attn shea: i've got a box of carbotech xp9's for the front and carbotech bobcats for the rear for my STi. i bought them so i could take the suby out on track so they've got one weekend on them but still have a lot of meat left. interested?mmm quite so. - Maengelito - 03-04-2007 according to the carbotech website (which has been redone so its not as terrible as before), the rear bobcats sell for 99 and the fronts dont list a price for xp9's, but the xp8's are 227 and the xp10's are 248. do you need both front and rears or just the fronts? - NTIman - 03-04-2007 Thanks for the help guys. I think I'm going to look into getting a set of carbotechs. I have heard very little bad stuff about them. - D_Eclipse9916 - 03-04-2007 I am a slave to good deals, just picked up a Wilwood 4 piston front brake kit with 13x1.10 directionally vented rotors with a brand new set of street pads and a barely used set of track pads. For.....400 dollars lol. I almost felt bad for the guy, the same kit sells for 1300 dollars everywhere. Plus he is going to buy my stock front calipers and rotors and lines for 200, so upgrading to these are only gonna cost me 200 dollars... - ScottyB - 03-04-2007 damn...is he trying to put his car back to stock? he must be in some kind of rush to sell a wilwood brake kit for a firesale price. - D_Eclipse9916 - 03-10-2007 .............he bought some ricerific rims that wouldnt fit the wilwoods......lol...I cant blame him for selling them as he doesnt track it, but he should have been asking double. |
