Weighed the 318 today. - Beej - 06-04-2004

I wasn't in it, full interior/spare/etc, 1/8th tank of gas.

Two weight factors:
19lb wheels (stock are 14lbs) and relatively heavy 225/50 tires.
GC suspension (lose a couple pounds at each corner).

I haven't done a single thing to lighten the car, and it weighed in at:

2360lbs. I'm stoked.

Anybody else weigh their car? Car weights are my 'thing' of the moment.

- JackoliciousLegs - 06-04-2004

holy shit... light as a feather!

- Mike - 06-04-2004

Kaan weighed mine with half a tank of gas. 2086 I think.

- BLINGMW - 06-04-2004

Don't have my corner weights on hand, but I think mine was 2190 with almost a full tank of gas, my track wheels/tires mounted (sadly a couple #'s each HEAVIER than my stock wheels/tires) and nothing in it. No AC parts, no PS, no washer fluid bottle, no airbox, no clutch fan, no trunk carpet, no me.

- Dave - 06-04-2004

I hate all of you.
I haven't actually weighed my cars, but the mkIII should weigh in close to 3800 and the IV should be around 3300. Eventually I'll get around to actually getting a real weight to get more specific.

- Mike - 06-04-2004

i r the winner! kaan is my only competition.

'91 CRX Si weighed 2115... I just don't know what year his is.

Dave Wrote:I hate all of you.

don't feel too bad. At about a .046 power/weight ratio, the 318i barely edges out the Saturn SL1 and Honda Insight, ties with the sporty Hyundai Accent, and is slightly bested by the illustrious Daewoo Nubria and Dodge Grand Caravan SE. (I checked)

Now Mike's ricerocket on the other hand, that's like interstellar speed.

- Mike - 06-04-2004

Especially when I hit 6th gear VTEC.

LIGHTSPEED BITCHES!!!

PS - Do not do a google image search for "lightspeed" while at work. It came up with all kinds of kiddie porn... I now fear for my job Cry

- ScottyB - 06-04-2004

HAHAHA, that would look great on your resume Mike. I hate that though, if i type in something totally random i get porno everywhere. then, the one time i actually typed in "blowjob" (don't ask, but it had to do with photoshop) i found like 8 pictures of some audi wagon. i swear.

so where do you guys weigh your cars? i know there is a weigh station in blacksburg that some people sneak onto, but otherwise, is there anything near JMU? i kind of fear seeing what my car weighs though. Dave, you and i need to send our cars to fat camp.

- Mike - 06-04-2004

I weighed mine on the NASA scales.

- ScottyB - 06-04-2004

cool. when was that, during tech? who do you ask to be able to put your car on there?

- Mike - 06-04-2004

any time during a weekend, and you ask kaan. Tongue

That stuff can't possibly weigh that much. Damn.

AC = 50ish
Washer bottle, airbox, clutch fan, trunk carpet = 20-30 tops?

Anywho, good stuff. I weighed mine on a junk/scrapyard scale. Confusedhock:

I lied. I don't know why that number popped into my head. I found the corner weights I wrote down, this is with me in the car:

FL: 705 FR: 656
RL: 570 RR: 560

for a total of 2491lbs

subtract 190 for me, and the car's 2301 with the 3/4 tank of gas. I need to move that battery to the right rear where it belongs!

- Maengelito - 06-04-2004

2004 STi

FL: 932 FR: 973
RL: 699 RR: 671

total: 3273

without driver, with 1/4 gas, with 2 subwoofer box bling

what a pig 8)

- Seantn1k - 06-04-2004

Man, that's quite a crazy weight Bill. Is that with the spare? I'm hoping to weigh the e30 with the m20b25 motor soon. I really want to see what the distribution is per wheel.

- Mike - 06-05-2004

i remember sitting in the car while we weighed it (even though i didnt write it down) but the difference between the total left and total right was only 10 lbs. besides, i figure that sub box weighs about as much as that missing 3/4 tank worth of gas which sat right above the gas tank.
