Small animal bedding...free - Jeff - 02-21-2007

I have a bag of wood chips I got as bedding for my new pet rats. One of them is allergic to it so I had to switch to another kind. Stuff cost me $8 so I hate to just throw it away...anyone have a use for it? Free.

- D_Eclipse9916 - 02-21-2007

use it to clean up spills with oil...

- Mike - 02-21-2007

pet rats? wtf?

- WRXtranceformed - 02-21-2007

How do you know if a rat is allergic to something? Did he sneeze a lot or just puke all over the place?

If it's the same as gerbils they get really lethargic and stop eating. I have a gerbil and we can only use Aspen Shavings, no cedar wood.

Here's the little fella,

Pete has a Rat as well I believe, they make great pets, don't take up much room, shit is easy to clean up, they don't bark and are cheap!

I had guinea pigs - far more fun, IMHO

- WRXtranceformed - 02-21-2007

I have a bunch of fish, they're quiet as shit but you can't play with them!

- Mike - 02-21-2007

i consider a pet something that can respond to commands and keep you warm and shit.

That's why I have Alison.

That leaves pretty much dogs and an occasional cat or bird.

A friend of mine had a pet rat growing up and they're actually fairly intelligent. If you could train a rat, would that be considered a pet?

My bad, I knew that, hows the little guy doing? Maybe we should bring them skiing w/ us Smile.

correct, dogs and the occasional cat. if you could train a rat, yes.

birds are like little heat nuggets. totally surprised me the first time i held one. but they're too smart to respond to any of my commands, they just sit there and mock me in birdish.

i consider my reef tank a pet-like thing Sad they neeeeeed me!

- Mike - 02-21-2007

it's all mikey rules, pay no attention.

to be a pet, something has to know you, react to you, care about you.
to be cool, something has to be awesome... like a reef tank. i don't consider them pets, but they are cool.

i've had rodents before, and don't see the point.

Hum, my roomba knows me and it reacts to me, and it cleans my floors (that's caring) so it must be a PET! My old cat however knew me, sometimes reacted to me and 99.9% of the time didn't give a shit to me, Mikey rules!

My, 'rodent' on the other hands does all 3, on a regular basis.

My rats already know (sorta) their names and they are supposed to be easily trained. They are very social and they do keep you warm...

Sounds great except for the whole "rat lover" label.
