The Official Stupid Things You've Done to Your Car Thread! - WRXtranceformed - 02-01-2007 Someone made a similar thread on the IS300 forums and it really made me laugh. I thought I'd start one for MM. Gimme lists of stupid things you've done to your car, or that have happened while driving / working on your car. Probably the most stupid thing I've done when working on my cars was lacerating the shit out of my wrist when changing the oil on my old Tundra. Oil pan bolt popped loose, my wrist lost to the dust guard underneath the truck. I'll never change my own oil ever again, not when I can pay someone I trust 20 bucks to do it for me. My two favorites from my.is: Quote:I lost my common sense when i did naturally asparated upgrades to my engine. Completely stupid idea Quote:Left it running whlie I was 3 feet away from it, and had some homeless crackhead steal it. - Beej - 02-01-2007 Bought it (330). - Mike - 02-01-2007 no chocks, jacked up rear w/ jack on wheels on inclined driveway. common sense didn't ring in "let the jack down" so i put my shoulder in to the car, slowing it enough for my dad to run off the front porch to hit the brakes. - HAULN-SS - 02-01-2007 thinking I could push an empty car with no motor in it up a 8% or so grade, with a friend. FAILED! A4 - spilled gas in my open, bleeding knuckles when i was changing the fuel filter. aaaargh it burrrnnsss - thought it was a bright idea to flush the crankcase with diesel to remove some ongoing sludge buildup... ended up spilling oil laced diesel over everything i was wearing, all over the parking lot, all over the engine bay, and all over the explorer next to it. then i flooded the engine. then i manged to clog something with loose deposits and killed the crank and other fun stuff. as of right now i'm driving a beat ass explorer that wants to die any day now and waiting on my shortblock to come in explorer - repaired the blown transmission instead of selling it the minute we aquired it ....one of these days i'll realize i should leave the mechanic work up to people that know what they're doing Re: The Official Stupid Things You've Done to Your Car Threa - WRXtranceformed - 02-02-2007 Mike Wrote:Nope this was several months ago in the parking spot in front of our townhouse. The scar is really nasty, I should have gone to the hospital, but in another dumb move I just taped it shut with butterfly strips because I hate going to the hospital.WRXtranceformed Wrote:Probably the most stupid thing I've done when working on my cars was lacerating the shit out of my wrist when changing the oil on my old Tundra. I, for one, am perfect and therefore have never done anything dumb with cars. Yeah, right. I'll try to compile a list at work today for your veiwing pleasure. - Sijray21 - 02-02-2007 mods i wish i could take back: borbet type-T wheels (16x7.5 et35) on the Si with no suspension mods indiglo guages 2 generic short shifters - both of which broke.....fixing that problem was a bitch other stupid things - trying to take off a mobile 1 oil filter without a filter wrench. i then tried to do the poke a screwdriver through it to twist it of....that was a mess and it didn't work. i then backed it out using a butter knife....it surprisingly worked. it ended up being a 6 hour, very messy oil change. - bought my integra RS. had some damage that wasn't listed on carfax and i couldn't tell without taking off the front bumper - leaving my Si that had GSR fat five wheels without wheel locks in my mom's neighborhood parked in the same spot for a week.... ...i know i have more, i'll have to think of some Scotty and the shock - i'll never forget it! hahaha - HAULN-SS - 02-02-2007 Haha! to scotty: at least you didnt get punched in the face when that shock assembly flew apart, that would have sucked. Also - gas in the wounds hurts? I've purposefully put gas in a cut before, and it feels really cold, but didnt hurt. It'll keep it from getting infected - ScottyB - 02-02-2007 HAULN-SS Wrote:Also - gas in the wounds hurts? I've purposefully put gas in a cut before, and it feels really cold, but didnt hurt. It'll keep it from getting infected it must have been the gas mixing with other dirt and crap  because yeah, it stung like a bitch! i didn't have my mechanics gloves on because they were already soaked in oil - JackoliciousLegs - 02-02-2007 I jacked my TII up in P-Run to replace the rear brakes. A strong gust of wind combined with the fact that it was on a slight incline pushed the car off the jackstands and onto the rotors. It was beautiful. I remember seeing it happen in slow motion from the other side of the street. - ScottyB - 02-02-2007 JackoliciousLegs Wrote:A strong gust of wind those RX-7 are CRAZY LIGHT! - CaptainHenreh - 02-02-2007 JackoliciousLegs Wrote:I jacked my TII up in P-Run to replace the rear brakes. Wait, no "I put a fuel pump cutoff protector on my car when it didn't need it and it made it run like shit and be in constant fear of blowing an apex seal?" - Feersty - 02-02-2007 - ScottyB - 02-02-2007 that was an even that will go down in MM history, Feersty - .RJ - 02-02-2007 - Sijray21 - 02-02-2007 .RJ Wrote: what about:   - .RJ - 02-02-2007 Nah that was a good car |
