Anyone drive an MS3 yet? - Mike - 01-30-2007 Pretty sharp looking car. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't interested... Anyone drive one? I can't see 263hp/280ft-lbs getting to the ground nicely via the front wheels only. Anyone drive one yet? Thoughts? - Apoc - 01-30-2007 I haven't driven one so I can't offer any advice there. It was amusing to see people look at the sticker price this past weekend though. $25k for that car!? No way I'm payin' that! They clearly didn't get that it wasn't just a regular ole 3 so it's safe to say that it's a true sleeper... assuming the wheels stay on the pavement. IMO, it would stay connected enough to matter. I mean it's likely you could spin the wheels if you wanted but it's not like you're going for the best quarter mile times on the way to work. For a DD, power is used more often while you're already moving and I'm guessing it would work well there. - Mike - 01-30-2007 All the reviews I've read said they were very skeptical of the traction and torque steer, but those doubts were gone after a drive. 3200lbs? Ick. I'm really in no mood or financial situation to be getting a new car, but I may stop by to drive one this weekend. Still need to build more equity in the S before I grab something new (depreciation only slowed about 6 months ago). Maybe by that time they'll have an AWD model out. - Evan - 01-30-2007 its pretty funny that when a honda fwd product puts out over 250hp all the fanbois say its the shizzle dizzle (TL, Accord V6, etc) , when its another car it suxorz cuz it will just light up the tires. I just think they all sux0rz  - Mike - 01-30-2007 Evan Wrote:its pretty funny that when a honda fwd product puts out over 250hp all the fanbois say its the shizzle dizzle (TL, Accord V6, etc) do they? i don't think they do. - Beej - 01-30-2007 I want one too. I'm going with you when you test drive it. 250hp FWD Honda's can't spin their wheels because they don't make any power 'til a billion rpms. - HAULN-SS - 01-30-2007 I've never been quite able to figure this out either - isnt it easier to light up the tires of a RWD car with taht same power anyway? I mean - theres usually less weight over the rear wheels, no? - ScottyB - 01-30-2007 HAULN-SS Wrote:I've never been quite able to figure this out either - isnt it easier to light up the tires of a RWD car with taht same power anyway? I mean - theres usually less weight over the rear wheels, no? weight transfer hates FWD cars. - HAULN-SS - 01-30-2007 oh yeah. guess I didnt think about what happens when it actually starts to move - Apoc - 01-30-2007 Mike Wrote:3200lbs? Ick. Welcome to the world of real-weight cars. I'm guessing they'll never put AWD in the MS3 because it would be too similar to the MS6. Obviously the looks are different but I think they want to keep the MS6 relatively untouchable and a fairly similar hatch for less money won't do that. - .paul - 01-30-2007 iono - i hate my 3. if no for power reasons, for just interior cheapness. luxury for life. - JustinG - 01-30-2007 funniest thing i heard, talking to a mazda dealer when my g/f bought her CX7, Me- so do you have any MS3s on the lot?? Salesman- No but have you read the reviews?? Me- yea im curious as to how well they will put down the power Salesman- Well, it will put it down pretty well, we like to call it an EVO/STi Killer Me- *Holding back laughter* Oh really? Sounds good. - Ryan T - 01-30-2007 If it's anything like the ms6, I would pass. - JustinG - 01-30-2007 MS6 = Poo - .RJ - 01-30-2007 .paul Wrote:iono - i hate my 3 Why? I've driven the 3's and the 6's and both seem like pretty good buys for what they cost. Wont coddle your ass like a BMW/Audi, but will be cheaper to own/insure and make for good, reliable everyday cars. - .paul - 01-30-2007 oh and the tranny on the 3's suck monkey balls - .RJ - 01-30-2007 .paul Wrote:oh and the tranny on the 3's suck monkey balls Did you even go to another dealer yet? - .paul - 01-30-2007 yeah, i got it fixed at browns - and the guy that worked there (from .net) was like this is common like in the RSX's - ScottyB - 01-30-2007 Apoc Wrote:I'm guessing they'll never put AWD in the MS3 because it would be too similar to the MS6. i agree. they'll want buyers looking up to the premium priced MS6. but then again you have brands like audi who have the S3 (AWD'd A3) and vw with the R32 golf...of course their brand structure is also way different. what else is the 3 platform used in? maybe it costs too much to modify it for AWD for a limited run of niche vehicles. - Apoc - 01-30-2007 FWIW, I actually really like the wife's 3. It's a nice car for the price and constantly impresses me considering what it cost. |
