Hello from New Jersey - MidasHands - 01-29-2007 This is my first post. I didn't realize JMU had a car club until a current student detailed my car and told me about it. I'm a JMU Alumnus and I just thought I would post some pix of my little girl. She will be a year old on Feb 18th. Let me know what you think! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
- G.Irish - 01-29-2007 Wow its good to see that JMU grads have good taste Do you do any autocrossing or anything with it? Is it your daily driver or strictly a weekend car?
- MidasHands - 01-29-2007 I haven't tried any autocrossing with it yet, but I hope to this upcoming year. Never done it before so it should be interesting. The Elise is my weekend driver. I have a Landrover for my daily. The Lotus would not be practical for the winter - its way too light! - BLINGMW - 01-29-2007 Hooray! Tell us if you ever bring it down to VA and need us to drive it for you. They are SO much fun in an autocross, you should definatly take it out to play.Just so I know... how long after graduating from JMU does it take to be able to afford one of those? - MidasHands - 01-29-2007 I wish that everyone could drive an Elise just once. I smile everytime I get in the car - I can only imagine how much fun autocrossing will be. I know the club had a car show last year. If there is one this year I am definitely going to try to make it down. Do you guys know Ciro? He did the detailing on my car - as a bonus I let him take her for a quick spin. I must say - he's a pretty good driver! - .RJ - 01-29-2007 Whats with the seats? I hope its bad lighting, and they really arent white... then again, I am a bit colorblind "quilted for softness" - ScottyB - 01-29-2007 .RJ Wrote:Whats with the seats? I hope its bad lighting, and they really arent white... what? aren't you all about cars from the 80's? they had lots of color combos like that  love the elise....had a chance to be a passenger in one around an auto-x course and it was a revelation. if prices on these things keep dropping i'm gonna have to get one. - .RJ - 01-29-2007 ScottyB Wrote:what? aren't you all about cars from the 80's? they had lots of color combos like that  If it were teal green instead of lime green we could just call it "miami vice" :vomit: - MidasHands - 01-29-2007 The color is actually called Magnolia. Both the color of the car and the seats look much better in person. I hate black leather it gets way to hot and the tan leather they offered clashed with the Krypton green. It is a bit of a pain to keep clean. I actually want to have the seats redone with a black fabric material around the edges. I also think I am going to powder coat the rims - I'm spending too much time cleaning them and I think black will be easier. - Ginger - 01-29-2007 Nice car; we'll defnitely hope to see you out at the spring show! Welcome to the club! - Andy - 01-29-2007 How about an intro of yourself? Name Class Major etc etc. - MidasHands - 01-29-2007 "Miami Vice" 8) Thats too funny! I have a white jacket that I wear when I drive it and I roll up the sleeves too! Yeah - the cost of the car is really not bad. It's just pretty expensive to maintain. $300 Oil Change Insurance is a little pricey Dealerships are few and far between so service is a hassle And for the price you would expect to have some luxury. However, everything is an option. It doesn't even come with a cup holder. The windows are wind up not automatic unless you pay extra. There's way more PRO's than Con's. This is my first sports car and I actually had to stop my self from buying a second one.[/quote] - Andy - 01-29-2007 midashands Wrote:$300 Oil Change Please tell me that there's a happy ending. It's a Celica GTS motor, no? - Ginger - 01-29-2007 MidasHands Wrote:Yeah - the cost of the car is really not bad. It's just pretty expensive to maintain. Christ. Is your warranty void if you don't have small services like that done at the dealer? That's absolutely killer.. - Maengelito - 01-29-2007 Andy Wrote:midashands Wrote:$300 Oil Change it is a celica gts motor. just go buy the appropriate filter and what, 4-5 qts of oil and do it yourself. or i'll do it for $250 ![]() btw, welcome to the forum. bring that thing out to the track sometime where it wants to stretch its legs - Sijray21 - 01-29-2007 oh my sweet jeebus - nice car! i've always liked the lotus' especially after they brought it over to the US. looks like someone needs an MM sticker!

- JackoliciousLegs - 01-29-2007 Say what you want. The car is stunning. - Evan - 01-29-2007 MidasHands Wrote:And for the price you would expect to have some luxury.no you wouldnt, its a Lotus ![]() Love the car. Horsepower is for chumps. Ill have one someday. btw- try taking the car to a toyota dealer for oil changes from now on and pocket the $250 - Feersty - 01-29-2007 Welcome, what year did you graduate? |
